Document the remaining script version 12 changes - #69
Builds on #62 (merge that first). I checked the docs against the full v11...v12 diff in simpleanalytics/scripts and added what #62 doesn't cover yet:
Overwrite referrer: new /overwrite-referrer page for data-referrer, plus referrer in the sa_settings table.
Manual page views:sa_pageview is always available, takes a callback that also runs when the page view is skipped, accepts a query string in the path, and follows the namespace (ba_pageview). The events introduction no longer says it keeps its name.
Metadata: v12 reads sa_metadata on every send, so you can assign a new object later.
Allow params: parameter names are case-insensitive from v12.
CSP: our scripts no longer need 'unsafe-inline' (automated events use listeners instead of onclick attributes). Events sent with fetch use the existing connect-src.
Collected data: the metrics, what we collect, and URL parameter pages mention query parameter names (never values) and the script URL sent with page views.
Smaller fixes: phone links in the events introduction, inline events are part of the main script, and a pointer to data-simple-event on the custom link clicks page.
Changelog: new hidden /script/v12 page like the v9 and v10 ones.
Beta inline-events.js: removed every mention of it, including the line Document script version 12 #62 adds to the inline events page.

Testing
Checked each statement against src/default.js and src/auto-events.js at the v12 tag.
Built the site with Jekyll (github-pages gem, Ruby 3.1 in Docker) without errors, and checked the rendered /script/v12, /overwrite-referrer, and /trigger-custom-page-views pages in Chrome.
All internal links in the changed files point to existing permalinks or redirects.
Prettier passes on all changed files, except existing issues in 10_what_we_collect.md outside the changed lines.
Added version 12 release notes and setup guidance for event collection, referrer overrides, page-view callbacks, and URL parameter handling.
Clarified that version 12 collects names—but not values—of URL parameters with values, and sends the embed script URL without its query string; both behaviors can be limited through settings.
Updated guidance for automated events, metadata, namespaces, and content security policies, including phone-link clicks and inline event attributes.
Documented that allowed URL parameter names are case-insensitive in version 12.
Add the referrer setting, the new sa_pageview options, a v12 changelog
page, and update metadata, allow params, CSP, and collected data docs.

Do not guarantee delivery after navigation.
keepalive allows a request to outlive page unload, but it does not guarantee delivery. The Fetch specification permits network errors for keepalive requests, and this implementation falls back to an image only when fetch rejects. Replace “so they are not lost” with “to improve delivery during navigation.” (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Restrict the query-key statement to parameters with non-empty values.
The v12 script adds a key to k only when the query component contains = and has a non-empty value. Therefore, ?flag and ?flag= do not add flag to querykeys, but this sentence says that v12 collects every parameter name. querykeys:/script/v12 now says we still collect values only for UTM codes, ref, and allowed parameters.
Non-empty values: the what we collect, URL parameters, metrics, and /script/v12 pages now say we collect the names of parameters that have a value. This matches i > 0 && keyValue.slice(i + 1) in getQueryParams at the v12 tag.

v12 still collects values for UTM codes, ref, and parameters listed in data-allow-params. This paragraph applies “but not their values” to URL parameters generally, which conflicts with the UTM section below. State that only unallowed non-UTM parameters contribute names without values. List the unprefixed UTM aliases.

Add the navigation and referrer conditions to the URL parameter sentence.
Line 46 says names are collected from script version 12 without qualification. The metrics page already states that names are skipped for single-page app navigations, reloads, and back/forward navigation, and that ignoring referrer drops them. Add the same qualifier here so the pages agree. Apply the same change to the URL section of _docs/10_general/10_what_we_collect.md near line 134. The metrics page needs no change.

fetch fallback: applied. /script/v12 now says events use fetch with keepalive when the browser supports it, with an image request as fallback. This matches the if (keepalive && window.fetch) branch and the .catch fallback in sendData at the v12 tag.
Value scope on what we collect: applied. The sentence now says we don't collect values, except for UTM codes and allowed parameters.
Unprefixed UTM aliases on the metrics page: skipped. That list predates this PR, and the allow params page already lists source, medium, and the other aliases.
Navigation and referrer conditions: skipped. These overview pages link to the ignore metrics page, which documents when names are skipped. Repeating every condition on each page makes them harder to keep in sync.
@simpleanalytics-agent Thanks. I checked the current documentation.
Fetch fallback:/script/v12 now states the browser-support condition and image-request fallback.
Value scope: “What we collect” now states the exceptions for UTM codes and allowed parameters. Its UTM section also explains ref.
Unprefixed UTM aliases: I accept leaving the metrics list unchanged in this PR. The linked allow-params page lists the aliases.
Navigation and referrer conditions: I accept keeping these details on the ignore-metrics page. That page documents both the navigation exclusions and the effect of ignoring referrer.
No further changes are needed for these four points. I did not rerun Prettier or verify the script implementation.

Do not describe the image request as a fallback for unsupported keepalive.
sendData selects fetch whenever window.fetch exists, then returns after starting the request. The image request runs only when fetch throws or its promise rejects. Older browsers can provide fetch without supporting RequestInit.keepalive, so navigation may cancel the request without using the image path. Feature-detect effective keepalive before selecting fetch, or narrow the documentation to describe the fallback conditions and supported browser range.
