Stocktake sessions for inventory revision, modelled on SLiMS Stock Take.

What it does

  • Open a session with a name, an optional branch and a filter (bookcase, shelf level, genre with subgenres, media type, collocation range). The expected copies are frozen at that moment (inventario_attese), so moving books or adding/deleting copies during the revision does not change the result. Soft-deleted books are excluded.
  • Scan page: a code field that keeps focus for keyboard-wedge readers, the self-hosted camera scanner from Feature Requests – Adaptation for Educational Institution Use (Adult Learning Center) #238 wired to the same field, and a .txt/.csv upload. Each outcome (found, misplaced, on loan, unknown code, out of scope, repeated) has its own colour and sound. Several operators can scan together; "only my scans" narrows the list.
  • Live report where found + misplaced + on loan + missing always equals the expected total, with PDF and CSV exports.
  • Close leaving missing copies as they are, or marking them perso. Marking lost is admin-only and re-checked on the server; it follows the same path as a manual copy state change (holds move, availability recalculated, ActivityLog entry per copy). Copies on loan, in transit, in maintenance or already lost are never touched. Cancelling changes nothing.
  • New permission inventory.manage and a role preset "Revisore inventario".

Release plumbing for 0.9.0 (this is the first PR of the 0.9.0 stack): version.json → 0.9.0, migrate_0.9.0.sql with one delimited section per feature, tests/migration-0.9.0.unit.php runs every tests/migration-0.9.0-<feature>.unit.php and fails if a section has no test, CHANGELOG ## [0.9.0] - Unreleased, README lead for v0.9.0.

Tests: 4 new unit suites (95 checks, the migration one runs the real SQL section twice on a sandbox with the 0.8.9 schema), the real Updater::runMigrations('0.8.9','0.9.0') path, new inventory-stocktake.spec.js (9 tests), full-test 162 passed, copy/scan regression specs green. PHPStan 0.

Stack: #502 → this → MARC → minor features → patron cards → circulation → calendar → fines. Merge in order.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentazione

    • Aggiornate le informazioni di rilascio alla versione 0.9.0.

Important

Closing with "mark as lost" leaves the session open while copies are being marked, so scans arriving during the close can record a copy as found right after it was declared perso.

Reviewed changes

This is the first review of the stocktake feature and the 0.9.0 release plumbing. I read the full diff and ran the pure unit tests (stocktake-classification, stocktake-permission) and scripts/ci-check-locales.py. All of them pass.

  • Snapshot and classification: StocktakeService::open() freezes the expected copies in inventario_attese. Every scan goes through the pure classify(). UNIQUE(sessione_id, copia_id) plus the 1062 fallback handles two operators scanning the same copy.
  • Live report: summary() and reportRows() keep found + misplaced + on loan + missing equal to the expected total. PDF (StocktakePdfGenerator) and CSV exports are available, and the CSV uses the formula prefix '.
  • Close and cancel: "mark lost" is admin-only, checked on the server. It mirrors the CopyController state-change path: holds are reassigned, availability is recalculated and copy.inventory_lost goes to the ActivityLog.
  • Permissions: a new inventory.manage capability is mapped to the /admin/inventory prefix, a new "Revisore inventario" preset is added, and the role navigation is updated.
  • Scan UI: the scan page queues wedge-scanner reads, polls /state every 5s, offers the camera scanner and accepts a .txt/.csv upload.
  • Release plumbing: migrate_0.9.0.sql has one delimited section per feature. tests/migration-0.9.0.unit.php runs every section test. version.json is 0.9.0, and CHANGELOG and README have 0.9.0 entries.

ℹ️ Both earlier findings are fixed. I have one minor suggestion inline, about what happens when a close request dies partway through.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the two commits since the previous Pullfrog review (63d60f7, 2bab2f1). I linted the changed PHP files and re-ran stocktake-classification, which passes. I did not run the DB-backed suites here.

  • Claimed the session before closing: close() and cancel() now go through claimTransition(). It is a conditional UPDATE ... WHERE stato = 'aperta' that checks affected_rows, so only one transition can succeed and only that one is logged.
  • Locked scans against the session row: record() now inserts inside a transaction behind lockOpenSession() (LOCK IN SHARE MODE). A scan either commits before the claim, and markBookCopiesLost() sees it, or the scan is refused.
  • Counted the summary in SQL: summary() now gets the missing and lent counts from one aggregate query. A deleted copy still counts as missing, as before.
  • Extended the stocktake tests: the snapshot suite now has a probe trigger that checks the session state when the first copy is marked lost. It also checks that a close after a cancel is refused, and it races a scan against an uncommitted close on a second connection.
  • Hardened the E2E cleanup and changelog spacing: the E2E afterAll now also deletes sessions that match the run tag or were opened by the test users. The changelog has blank lines after its headings.

✅ No new issues found. The last open suggestion is addressed.

Reviewed changes

This run covers e54d367, the only commit since the previous Pullfrog review. I linted both changed PHP files. I did not run the DB-backed snapshot suite here.

  • Let a mark-lost close run to the end: when azione_mancanti=perso, InventoryController::close() now calls @set_time_limit(0) and ignore_user_abort(true) before the service runs. It does this after the admin check, so a refused request never changes those settings. This follows the Updater / BackupManager convention, and a request cut off halfway can no longer leave a claimed session with only some copies marked.
  • Covered the controller path in the snapshot test: tests/stocktake-snapshot.unit.php now loads app/helpers.php, which the controller needs for __() and url(). It then drives a real controller close and checks that ignore_user_abort() is on and that the session ends chiusa.

Pullfrog  | View workflow run | Using claude-opus-5-5 | 𝕏

close() and cancel() now flip the session state with one conditional UPDATE before doing anything else and stop when it changes no row, so a concurrent cancel or second close cannot also succeed and no copy is marked lost on a session that ends up cancelled. Scans are written under a shared lock on the session row, so a scan either lands before the close and is seen by it, or is refused.

summary() counts the missing and lent copies with one aggregate query instead of loading every unscanned expected copy on each scan and poll.
The session is claimed before the copies are marked, so a close cut off by the PHP time limit or by the browser going away could not be retried from the page. With "mark lost" the close request now lifts the time limit and ignores a client abort, as the other long admin operations do.

Review: stocktake sessions (#504)

Verdict: solid feature; one real problem in the "mark lost" path's definition of "away" states (finding 1), the rest is minor. The bot-reported fixes (claimTransition conditional UPDATE, cancel() affected_rows, SQL-side summary(), set_time_limit/ignore_user_abort, orphan-session cleanup) are correct and tested.

Findings

1. MAJOR — copies on the pickup shelf (copie.stato = 'prenotato') are declared lost and the reader's hold is cancelled
app/Services/StocktakeService.php:36 (AWAY_STATES lacks prenotato), :815, :839-854.
Scenario: a reservation reached da_ritirare, so MaintenanceService (~:1009/:1038) set the copy prenotato and it physically sits at the desk, not on its bookcase. A stocktake over that bookcase snapshots it (snapshotWhere has no state filter), nobody scans the pickup shelf, an admin closes with "Segna come perse": unscannedExpected() reports it in_prestito=0 (only in_corso/in_ritardo count), close() does not skip it, markBookCopiesLost() sets perso, then the hold loop finds the da_ritirare row and calls reassignOnCopyLost(); with no other copy, handleNoCopyAvailable() nulls copia_id and queues a "copy_unavailable" notification. A present copy is now lost and the reader's pickup cancelled.
Fix: add prenotato (or "has an active prenotato/da_ritirare loan row") to the skip set and show these copies as "in attesa di ritiro" in the report, like lent copies. No test creates a prenotato copy; add one.

2. MINOR — danneggiato copies are overwritten to perso
:36, :750, :815. Everywhere else danneggiato is treated with perso/manutenzione/in_restauro/in_trasferimento as out of circulation (CopyController.php:266, ReservationReassignmentService.php:442); the CHANGELOG list of untouched states does not mention it. Include it in AWAY_STATES or document the choice.

3. MINOR — copies already out of circulation at opening count as "mancanti" forever
:188-191 (snapshot takes every state), :594-610, :666. 40 copies already perso → live counter shows 40 missing before any scan, and after a mark-lost close the report still says 40 missing / 0 marked, contradicting the "0 copie mancanti segnate come perse" message. stato_all_apertura is stored but never used. Either exclude away states from the snapshot or give them their own bucket so found + misplaced + on loan + missing + unavailable == expected.

4. MINOR — collocation range is a lexicographic string comparison
:259-271. Range A.2 → A.9 excludes A.10/A.11 ('1' < '2'), and A.1 → A.1 includes A.10…A.19 via the LIKE branch, while the placeholder suggests shelf order. Say so in the help text or compare with the natural ordering the placement page uses.

5. MINOR — scan page polling can overwrite a newer state with an older response
app/Views/inventario/show.php:497-534: the 5 s setInterval checks busy but not an in-flight refresh(), and the "only my scans" toggle starts another without cancelling the previous. Slow /state responses → list/counters flicker back. Keep an AbortController per refresh.

6. MINOR — README "What's New in v0.9.0" advertises MARC, visitor log, suppliers, cards, patron types, calendar and fines, none of which is in this PR; version.json is already 0.9.0. If #504 merges before the rest (or one PR is dropped) main ships a README describing features that do not exist. Keep the README list limited to what is merged, extending it per PR as the CHANGELOG already does.

Checked and found correct

All 25 prepared statements' type strings vs arguments; snapshot really frozen (no FK to copie, deleted/moved/added copies behave as claimed); classification order and the (sessione_id, copia_id) UNIQUE handled via errno 1062 inside the open transaction; share lock on the session row vs the claim's X-lock makes a racing scan wait and then be refused (tested); the report invariant holds for copy lent/deleted after snapshot and book soft-deleted after snapshot; mark-lost mirrors CopyController::update (book FOR UPDATE, copy re-read, physical-loan recheck, ReservationReassignmentService with external transaction, availability recalculated, deferred notifications flushed after commit, ActivityLog per copy); all 10 routes under inventory.manage via allowsPath (exact segment match), mark-lost re-checked server side against tipo_utente === 'admin', CSRF on every POST incl. the JSON scan body, rate limits; upload caps (2 MB, 5000 codes, extension whitelist, BOM/Latin-1); CSV with EscapeFormula; PDF via Cell() plain text; every dynamic view value escaped; JSON config with JSON_HEX_*; migration idempotent, collations consistent, INSERT IGNORE role seed, schema.sql mirrors it, section test runs the SQL twice; 88 new keys in all five locales; LOCK IN SHARE MODE/FOR UPDATE valid on MySQL 8.0 and MariaDB 10.11; the two pure unit tests pass locally.

A copy set aside on the pickup shelf for a reader (copie.stato
'prenotato', or an active loan row 'prenotato'/'da_ritirare') is not on
its shelf, yet the session counted it as missing and a close with "mark
as lost" set it to 'perso' and moved the reader's hold to another copy.
Only 'in_corso'/'in_ritardo' loans and the 'prestato' state counted as
on loan.

Such a copy now belongs to the on-loan bucket, in the one SQL predicate
shared by summary(), unscannedExpected() and reportRows() and in
isOnLoan(), so found + misplaced + on loan + missing still equals the
expected copies and mark-lost skips it. The bucket label becomes "In
prestito o in attesa di ritiro" (five locales; the old "In prestito" key
stays, other pages use it) and the scan feedback says the same.

'danneggiato' joins AWAY_STATES: every other place treats a damaged copy
as out of circulation, and a close must not overwrite it with 'perso'.

The DB-backed snapshot test adds a 'prenotato' copy with a 'da_ritirare'
hold (counted on loan, hold untouched after the close) and a copy that
gets damaged during the session (reported missing, not marked lost).
The snapshot took every copy matching the filter, whatever its state. A
copy already lost, damaged, at the restorer's, in transit or in
maintenance was then "missing" for the whole session: nobody expects it
on the shelf, and the close skips it anyway, so the count could never be
settled. Those states are now left out of inventario_attese at opening.
Lent copies and copies waiting for pickup stay in, they have the on-loan
bucket.

The snapshot test adds a 'perso' and an 'in_restauro' copy at opening
and checks they are neither expected nor touched; the E2E fixtures open
on 'disponibile' copies, so their counts do not move.
refresh() is started by the 5-second poll, by every recorded scan and by
the "only my scans" toggle. The poll checked `busy` but not whether a
refresh was already running, and the toggle started another one without
cancelling, so a slower, older answer could land after a newer one and
put stale counters and rows on the page.

Each refresh now carries an AbortController; starting one aborts the
previous, and an answer whose body was already read when it was
superseded is dropped. AbortError is ignored in the catch: the newer
request is the one that counts.
The "Collocazione da/a" bounds are compared as strings, so A.10 sorts
before A.2. The query stays as it is (collocations are free text, with
no numeric shape to rely on); the form now says so under the two
inputs, in the five locales, so a librarian does not open a session on
a range that misses part of the shelf.
A prestiti row 'prenotato' is a loan booked for a later date: the copy
stays on its shelf until MaintenanceService activates the pickup, and
only then does the copy itself become 'prenotato'. Counting that row as
"on loan" would report a copy that is on the shelf as away, and a scan
of it as on loan instead of found.

The loan states of the on-loan bucket are 'in_corso', 'in_ritardo' and
'da_ritirare'; the copy states 'prestato' and 'prenotato' stay, as does
AWAY_STATES, so a copy already set aside for pickup is still never
marked lost.
Carries the review fixes of #502 (quoted author names, series picker

Review fixes pushed to feat/stocktake (plus a merge of the fixed #502 branch):

  • e10f346c Copies held for pickup or damaged are never marked lost — AWAY_STATES gains prenotato and danneggiato; one shared onLoanSql() predicate (c.stato IN ('prestato','prenotato') or an active loan row) feeds summary(), unscannedExpected(), reportRows(), close(), isOnLoan() and record(), so the invariant still holds and the bucket label becomes "In prestito o in attesa di ritiro" (counters, PDF, CSV, scan feedback; five locales). DB unit test adds a prenotato copy with a da_ritirare loan and a copy damaged mid-session.
  • 719c4439 A scheduled loan (prestiti.stato = 'prenotato', copy still on its shelf) does not put the copy in the on-loan bucket: only in_corso, in_ritardo, da_ritirare do.
  • bca6efc4 Copies already off the shelf at opening (perso, danneggiato, in_restauro, in_trasferimento, manutenzione) stay out of the snapshot, so they are no longer "missing" forever.
  • 05956c82 Scan page: a newer refresh aborts the one in flight (AbortController).
  • d5feaa75 Help text under the collocation range saying the comparison is alphabetical (A.10 before A.2).

README left as is (it describes the whole 0.9.0 stack). PHPStan clean, pure unit tests green, locales aligned.

normalizeCode() cut every code to 100 characters, so a longer code whose first 100 characters are another copy's code was recorded as that copy, and the real scan of it then came out as a duplicate. The code is now kept whole; scan() refuses it with a message, and importCodes() checks the whole list before recording anything.
A .csv upload was split into physical lines before parsing, so a quoted cell holding a line break became an extra unknown code. It took the first non-empty cell, so a row with an empty first column recorded its title as a scan, against what the page and the docblock say. And the delimiter was guessed counting commas inside quotes, so "INV,001";Title was read with the wrong one.

Records are now read whole with fgetcsv() on a memory stream, only the first column is a code, and delimiter detection ignores quoted text.
Each code of an uploaded list was committed on its own, so a file that failed halfway left its first codes in the session behind a generic error, and uploading it again turned them into duplicates. importCodes() now takes the session lock once and writes every scan in a single transaction; record() writes inside it instead of opening a nested one.
The "found, update its state" warning was only shown for out-of-scope scans. An expected copy marked lost or sent away after the session opened is scanned as found, and the operator was never told its state was wrong. The warning now follows fuori_circolazione for every outcome; an out-of-scope copy still gets it in place of "out of scope".
missingToMark() skipped a copy changed after the close, but markBookCopiesLost() did not repeat that check once it held the book lock: a copy edited between the two was still marked lost and its holds moved. The copy row is now re-read with its updated_at under the lock and left alone when it changed after the close.

Both checks also treat a change in the same second as the close as later. chiusa_il and updated_at hold whole seconds, so such a change is ambiguous, and leaving the copy alone is the side that destroys nothing. The close never touches a copy it has not marked, so it cannot trip the rule itself. The test fixture creates its copies an hour back so a fast run is not caught by it.
The loop that moves holds off a copy declared lost stopped after 1000 rounds without checking whether a hold was still there, and the transaction committed anyway: a reader's hold stayed on a lost copy. The check now runs once more after the last round, and a hold still in place throws, so the whole book is rolled back and counted as a failed update that a later resume can retry.
The copy.inventory_lost events were written after the per-book commit. A request cut off in between left the copy 'perso' and its bucket 'persa', which a resume skips, so the event was never written. The events are now written inside the transaction, before the commit, and one that cannot be written rolls the book back like any other failure, to be retried by a resume.
cancel() sets chiusa_il too, so the PDF of a cancelled session printed "Closed on" next to the cancellation date. The header lines move to metaLines(), which labels that date "Cancelled on" for a cancelled session.
reportRows() and TCPDF build the whole report in memory within one request, so a stocktake of the whole catalogue could run past memory_limit or max_execution_time, and the rate limit does not bound the row count. exportPdf() now counts the rows first (reportRowCount(), without loading them) and, above StocktakePdfGenerator::MAX_ROWS, goes back to the session with a message pointing to the CSV report, which is written row by row.
The map comment said a mapped section missing from migrate_0.9.0-rc.1.sql is not checked, but the runner still executed every tests/migration-0.9.0-*.unit.php, and a section test exits 1 when its delimiters are absent: a test landing before its section, or left after the section was removed, failed the whole gate. Tests mapped to absent sections are now skipped with a SKIP line; a section in the SQL without a map entry or without its test file still fails.
The inventory.* events (opened, closed, cancelled, lost copies resumed) are written with recordEntityEvent() on inventario_sessioni, but the only readers, recent() and forBook(), filter on tabella = 'libri', so nobody could see who closed or cancelled a session. ActivityLog::forEntity() reads the events of one non-book record, newest first and bounded, and the session page, staff-only like the rest of it, lists them under "Cronologia" with date, event and operator.
The E2E PDF check only looked at the status, the content type, the %PDF- prefix and the session name, which is also in the document metadata: a generator writing no rows would pass. TCPDF stores text as glyph ids of a subset font, so the bytes cannot be searched for a copy code. The generator now builds its document through createDocument(), and tests/stocktake-pdf.unit.php swaps in a TCPDF subclass that records every cell it is given while still rendering: it checks that each code is written once, under its own section heading with the right row count, with its title, in reading order, and that empty sections get no heading.

✅ No new issues found. The 12 commits since 09c8609 tighten code input, upload atomicity and the mark-lost path without regressions I could find.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 92b700d..b4d1b28. I read the full incremental diff and ran stocktake-classification (47 checks, including the new Node-run detailFor() checks), stocktake-pdf (34), stocktake-permission (20) and scripts/ci-check-locales.py. All of them pass. The DB-backed stocktake-snapshot suite was not run here.

  • Refused over-long codes: normalizeCode() no longer truncates, and assertCodeLength() rejects a code longer than MAX_CODE_LENGTH in scan() and for every code of an upload before anything is recorded.
  • Read CSV uploads as whole records: csvFirstCells() parses through fgetcsv (multi-line quoted cells, bare CR) and takes the first column only, and csvDelimiter() ignores delimiters inside quotes.
  • Made an upload one transaction: importCodes() takes the session share lock once and record(..., $insideTransaction) writes every scan inside it, so a file that fails halfway records nothing.
  • Re-checked post-close edits under the book lock: markBookCopiesLost() reads updated_at with FOR UPDATE and skips copies changed at or after chiusa_il through the shared changedSinceClose(). reassignOnCopyLost() only rewrites prestiti.copia_id, so the close cannot trip this on copies it has not marked.
  • Rolled back stuck holds and unwritten audits: the hold guard now throws after 1000 rounds, and copy.inventory_lost is written inside the per-book transaction (a false return throws). Either failure leaves the copy, its hold and the frozen mancante bucket untouched for a resume.
  • Capped the PDF export: reportRowCount() against StocktakePdfGenerator::MAX_ROWS redirects to the session with a pointer to the CSV report.
  • Dated cancelled sessions correctly in the PDF: metaLines() labels chiusa_il as "Annullata il" for a cancelled session. createDocument() gives the new PDF test a recording TCPDF subclass to check section placement.
  • Added the session history: ActivityLog::forEntity() reads non-book entity events, and show.php lists the open/close/cancel/resume events.
  • Flagged off-shelf copies on any outcome: detailFor() adds the off-shelf note to a found copy whose state became lost or away after the opening.
  • Skipped tests of absent migration sections: migration-0.9.0-rc.1.unit.php skips the tests of mapped sections the SQL does not carry, and counts only the tests it ran.

Replies to the follow-up findings listed in the body of the latest CodeRabbit review on this PR:

  • Fixed in b4d1b28. The PDF generator now builds its document through a createDocument() method, and a new test, tests/stocktake-pdf.unit.php, swaps in a TCPDF subclass that records every cell while still rendering the PDF; it checks each copy code appears once, under its own section heading with the right row count, with its title, in reading order, and that empty sections get no heading.
  • Fixed in e8eedcf. I added a bounded reader, ActivityLog::forEntity() (newest first, at most 50 rows, never reads libri rows), and the stocktake session page, staff-only like the rest of the page, now lists the session's own events under "Cronologia" with date, event and operator.

A .txt line that starts with a tab has no code: the first cell is the one before the tab, so a title in the next column is no longer recorded as an unknown code. The CSV delimiter is counted on the first record rather than its first physical line, so a quoted first cell that spans two lines no longer hides the semicolon after it. A quote left in a .csv cell after fgetcsv() is part of the code and is kept; a .txt line drops only one pair of quotes wrapping it whole.
record() read the copy state and the active loan before its transaction and the session lock, so a return committed in between left the scan stored as on loan for a copy already back on the shelf, and the close froze that outcome. The reads now run inside the transaction, after the session lock, and the loan and copy state are locking reads taken in the order a return takes its locks (the loan, then the copy): a return still in progress is waited for.
The CSV export collected every report row into one PHP array and the whole file into one string, so a stocktake of a large catalogue could exhaust memory_limit, while that export is the way out for reports too large for the PDF. The report rows now come from a generator over the buffered results and are written one by one into a temporary stream that becomes the response body.

The PDF export counted the rows and then read them with a second query, so scans recorded in between could push the rendered report past MAX_ROWS. It now reads the rows once, one past the limit, and refuses when those very rows exceed it; the generator itself also refuses more than MAX_ROWS rows.
The fixture codes were short, so the test would still pass if the code cell were cut to fit its column like the others. A found row now carries a code of MAX_CODE_LENGTH characters and the test checks it is written whole.
importCodes() keeps one transaction for the whole file, so the locking reads record() takes for a single scan held the copie and prestiti locks of every recorded code until the last one: returns waited for the upload, and a desk loan of a copy further down the file could deadlock with it. The upload now reads the committed loan state without locks; a single scan, in its own short transaction, keeps the locking reads that wait for a return in progress.

Replies to the nitpick and outside-diff findings in the body of the latest CodeRabbit review on this PR:

  • Do not strip literal quotes from imported codes — Fixed in 8a5b3e4. A .csv cell is now only whitespace-trimmed, since fgetcsv() already removed the CSV quoting, so a quote that is part of the code is kept; a .txt line, which has no quoting rules, drops only one pair of quotes wrapping the whole code. Tests cover both cases.
  • Add a 100-character code to the PDF test — Fixed in b43a046. A found row now carries a code of MAX_CODE_LENGTH (100) characters and the test checks it is written whole; I verified the test fails if the code cell is cut by fit() like the other columns.

ℹ️ No critical issues. One minor locking trade-off is noted inline.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the four commits since the prior Pullfrog review at b4d1b28. The pure suites pass locally: stocktake-classification (51 checks) and stocktake-pdf (38 checks).

  • Code import parsing: a .txt line now keeps only the text before its first tab and drops just one balanced pair of wrapping quotes. A .csv cell keeps every quote, because fgetcsv() has already removed the CSV quoting. csvDelimiter() now reads the first record instead of the first line, so a quoted first cell that spans several lines no longer hides the delimiter.
  • Loan status during a return: record() now does all its reads inside the scan transaction. It uses locking reads on prestiti and then on copie, which is the same order a return takes its locks, so a scan waits for a return still in progress.
  • Streamed CSV export: a new eachReportRow() generator feeds rows one at a time into a php://temp stream. reportRows() gains a $limit and is built on that generator.
  • PDF row limit: the PDF export reads at most MAX_ROWS + 1 rows and checks that same set again before rendering. StocktakePdfGenerator::generate() throws LengthException when given more than MAX_ROWS.
  • Tests: added checks for the new parsing rules, a 100-character code printed whole in the PDF, a return race that hits a 1205 timeout, and the CSV export's peak memory against its file size.

✅ No new issues found. The upload-lock finding from the prior review is fixed cleanly.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 72524a1, the only commit since the prior Pullfrog review at b43a046.

  • Upload no longer locks circulation rows: record() now uses the locking reads (isOnLoan($copyId, true) and then lockedCopyState()) only when it owns its short per-scan transaction. Inside the whole-file transaction that importCodes() opens, the loan status is read without a lock, so returns and desk loans of uploaded copies no longer wait for the upload or deadlock with it. A single scan still waits for a return that is in progress. inventario_scansioni has no foreign key to copie, so the scan INSERT takes no parent lock on copie either.
  • Test: a second connection holds a copie row FOR UPDATE, as a desk loan does, with innodb_lock_wait_timeout = 1. The test checks that a single scan of that copy waits and times out, and that an upload of the same code is recorded straight away.
