Two environment changes broke CI for every branch, independently of the code:

  • ubuntu-latest now resolves to Ubuntu 26.04, and Playwright refuses to install Chromium there (ERROR: Playwright does not support chromium on ubuntu26.04-x64), so the installer and browser jobs die before running a test. I pin all workflows to ubuntu-24.04.
  • npm audit blocks on GHSA-mf2p-h6hf-fcwm (tinymce 8.5.1–8.9.2, XSS through media plugin serialization). The lockfile moves to tinymce 8.10.0, and the editor the app actually serves, the committed copy in public/assets/tinymce, is refreshed from the same 8.10.0 package (it was 8.1.2). scripts/copy-vendor-assets.js now copies TinyMCE too, so the existing git diff --exit-code -- public/assets gates catch a committed copy that falls behind the lockfile.

This should be merged first: the other open PRs carry the same commits so their CI can run.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Miglioramenti

…fcwm

ubuntu-latest now resolves to 26.04, where Playwright cannot install Chromium, so every browser job fails before running a test. I pin the runners to 24.04 until Playwright supports the new image.

npm audit blocks on GHSA-mf2p-h6hf-fcwm (tinymce 8.5.1-8.9.2, media plugin serialization XSS). The lockfile moves to 8.10.0; the editor served from public/assets/tinymce is unchanged.

Reviewed changes — the runner pin across every workflow and the root tinymce bump for GHSA-mf2p-h6hf-fcwm.

  • Runner pin — every runs-on: ubuntu-latest under .github/workflows/ now reads ubuntu-24.04. The pin is complete: no ubuntu-latest is left in any workflow, and that includes release.yml publish, codeql.yml and pullfrog.yml.
  • tinymce 8.8.2 → 8.10.0 — the range in package.json and the lockfile entry move together. The lockfile integrity matches npm view tinymce@8.10.0 dist.integrity. The root dependency has no runtime effect: postinstall (scripts/copy-vendor-assets.js) copies only sortablejs. The editor that is actually served is the committed public/assets/tinymce copy, version 8.1.2, which is outside the advisory's 8.5.1–8.9.2 range. The PR description is therefore accurate that the served copy is unaffected.

The tinymce bump only reached node_modules, while the app loads the
committed copy in public/assets/tinymce, which was still 8.1.2. That copy
is now refreshed from the locked 8.10.0 package (same file set: the dom
model, silver theme, oxide and tinymce-5 skins, default icons and the
existing plugins; license.md added, CHANGELOG.md stays ignored).

copy-vendor-assets.js now copies TinyMCE as well, so the existing
"git diff --exit-code -- public/assets" gates in the release and supply
chain workflows fail whenever a tinymce bump is not followed by the
refreshed files.

On the review note that the served editor is the committed copy: 5408876 refreshes public/assets/tinymce from the locked 8.10.0 package, with the same file set (models/dom, themes/silver, oxide and tinymce-5 skins, default icons, the existing plugins) plus license.md. It also adds TinyMCE to copy-vendor-assets.js, so a clean npm ci leaves public/assets unchanged, and the release and supply-chain asset-diff gates now cover TinyMCE. The full browser suite passes against it, including the CMS, events and book description editors.

Reviewed changes — since the prior review, the committed TinyMCE copy has been refreshed and the vendor copy script now keeps it in sync.

  • Served editor 8.1.2 → 8.10.0: public/assets/tinymce matches the published tinymce@8.10.0 tarball byte for byte (checked with npm pack + diff -rq). The only file left out is upstream CHANGELOG.md, which .gitignore already excludes, and no stale 8.1.2 files remain. The editor the app actually serves is now outside GHSA-mf2p-h6hf-fcwm's affected range.
  • copy-vendor-assets.js copies TinyMCE: root postinstall now writes node_modules/tinymce over public/assets/tinymce. The git diff --exit-code -- public/assets gates in ci-quality.yml, release.yml and ci-security-supply-chain.yml all run root npm ci with scripts enabled first, so a lockfile bump without refreshed files will fail CI. The copied CHANGELOG.md is ignored, so the untracked-asset checks (--exclude-standard) stay green.

Review: CI runner pin and TinyMCE 8.10.0 (#503)

Verdict: no defects, good to merge first as the description says. Verified: all 12 workflows pinned to ubuntu-24.04 (including pullfrog.yml and both release.yml jobs); lockfile at tinymce@8.10.0; the committed copy's header says TinyMCE version 8.10.0 (2026-10-14) bundling DOMPurify 3.4.11 (the previous copy was 8.1.2); file set identical to before plus license.md, no stale files; every plugin the app's tinymce.init lists (advlist autolink lists link image charmap preview anchor searchreplace visualblocks code fullscreen insertdatetime media table help wordcount) exists in 8.10.0; the ci-verify-release.sh canary paths still exist; copy-vendor-assets.js fails the build on a missing source, so the git diff --exit-code -- public/assets gate works as intended.

Observations (not blocking)

1. The "Scan complete Git history with Gitleaks" step is red on every schedule and workflow_dispatch run, on main too.
The pull_request/push runs pass because gitleaks-action scans only the PR range; the weekly schedule run on main (#903 on 2026-10-27, #807, #752) and the manual runs on the stacked branches scan all ~3,100 commits and report 28 leaks, all in old commits: example API keys in storage/plugins/api-book-scraper/SERVER_IMPLEMENTATION_GUIDE.md and README.md, the example curl in app/Views/settings/advanced-tab.php, strings in locale/fr_FR.json, the RFC 8291 test vectors in tests/mobile-webpush-encryption.unit.php, an array literal in Z39ServerPlugin.php, plus scripts/manual-update.php, tests/schema-integrity.spec.js, admin/configurazione.md. They look like documentation examples and test fixtures, not secrets, but that is worth a one-time check of each. Since this PR already touches every workflow, it is the natural place to add a .gitleaksignore with those 28 fingerprints (or a .gitleaks.toml allowlist for the doc/test paths) so the scheduled scan becomes meaningful again.

2. The stacked PRs (#504 → #510) get no pull_request CI at all.
Every workflow has pull_request: branches: [main], so a PR whose base is a feature branch never triggers one; the green checks on #504–#510 are manual workflow_dispatch runs on each branch head. That is fine as a process, but it means CI re-validates each stacked PR only once it is retargeted to main after its parent merges. If you want automatic runs on the stack, drop the branches filter on pull_request (the concurrency groups already keep it cheap).

3. copy-vendor-assets.js copies the whole npm package (163 non-minified .js/.css sources, 11.7 MB in git) into a public path, the same layout as the previous committed copy, so nothing changes in practice. copyDir never deletes files removed upstream; none this time, but a future bump could leave orphans behind the "committed copy on the locked version" gate.

The "Scan complete Git history with Gitleaks" step passes on pull_request
and push events, which only scan the changed range, but fails on every
scheduled and manual run: the full-history scan reports 28 findings in
commits from 2025, all documentation placeholders (api-book-scraper
guide and README, the curl example on the advanced settings tab), array
literals and French translation strings matched by the generic rule, and
the RFC 8291 Appendix A web-push test vectors. None is a credential.

Record their fingerprints in .gitleaksignore so the weekly scan on main
is green again and a real leak would be visible.

Pushed a844ffbe — .gitleaksignore with the 28 fingerprints the full-history scan reports (api-book-scraper docs and views, the advanced-tab curl example, Z39ServerPlugin array literals, fr_FR.json strings, the update scripts, the RFC 8291 web-push vectors and two spec fixtures), grouped by origin with a comment each. I checked the current content of every flagged spot: placeholders like sk_live_9f8e…, your-api-key-here, translation strings and published test vectors, no credential. The weekly scheduled scan on main should be green again once this merges; the pull_request: branches: [main] filter was left as is.

Reviewed changes: the one commit since the prior review adds a Gitleaks allowlist for the full-history scan.

  • Added .gitleaksignore: it lists 28 fingerprints in the commit:path:rule:line form, so the full-history Scan complete Git history with Gitleaks step in ci-security-supply-chain.yml stops failing on schedule and workflow_dispatch runs. I checked it against the complete main + PR history (2,838 commits) with gitleaks 8.28.0:
    • With the file in place, the scan finds no leaks.
    • With the file removed, the scan finds 26 leaks. All 26 are listed in the file, and every one is benign: sk_live_9f8e… and sk_live_xxx doc placeholders, curl examples using TUA_CHIAVE or a your-key placeholder, z39_* table-name arrays, the fr_FR "Afficher/masquer" strings, the MySQL error-code maps, the RFC 8291 Appendix A vectors and wrong_key_12345.
    • The other two entries (84f14515… plugins.php:474 and 16ba645f… advanced-tab.php:607) point to commits that main cannot reach. They probably come from the stacked branches that the manual runs scanned. Keeping them is harmless.
    • The fingerprints are scoped to individual commits, so if a new commit adds a real key in these same files, the scan still flags it.

CI note on a844ffbe: "Browser regression shard 1/4" is red with 777 passed, 0 unexpected and 1 flaky: tests/loan-reservation-complete.spec.js:603 (A.2, admin approves loan) timed out once on the 15 s waitForFunction after the SweetAlert confirm and passed on its retry; scripts/ci-audit-playwright-results.js fails the shard on any flaky test by design. The only change on this head is .gitleaksignore, which no browser test reads, and the same shard was green on the previous head 5408876c; the test is pre-existing on main. I cannot re-run the job from this session (the Actions API answers 403), so a re-run from the Actions page is needed; if A.2 keeps flaking, the approval wait (success icon or row gone) is the place to harden, outside this PR's scope.

npm ci runs the postinstall copy, which put node_modules/tinymce/CHANGELOG.md
(gitignored, 300 KB) into public/assets/tinymce, and build-release.sh rsyncs
the working tree, so the release ZIP carried a file that is not in the
repository. The copy now skips it and .rsync-filter excludes it as a second
guard. The log line names the real destination.

Reviewed changes: the one commit since the prior review keeps the upstream TinyMCE changelog out of the working tree and the release ZIP.

  • copyDir skips CHANGELOG.md for TinyMCE: scripts/copy-vendor-assets.js gains a skip list that applies only at the top level, and the TinyMCE entry uses it. Root npm ci therefore no longer writes the gitignored 300 KB node_modules/tinymce/CHANGELOG.md into public/assets/tinymce. Sortable.js is unchanged, because it passes the default [].
  • .rsync-filter excludes the changelog as a second guard: - /public/assets/tinymce/CHANGELOG.md is anchored at the transfer root, which is correct because bin/build-release.sh runs rsync -a --filter="merge .rsync-filter" . "$package_dir/" from the repo root. None of the earlier + rules match that path, so under first-match-wins the exclude applies. It also covers working trees where an earlier npm ci already copied the file.
  • Corrected the log line: it now names public/assets and no longer says public/assets/vendor.

Considerare la pulizia della destinazione come miglioramento preventivo.

copyDir lascia i file presenti solo in public/assets/tinymce. Un futuro aggiornamento TinyMCE che rimuove o rinomina un file può quindi includere un asset obsoleto nel release ZIP. Questa PR non introduce però un asset obsoleto attuale, né viola un requisito di mirror esatto.
