Sleep-window history is read during sleep staging and by the Sleep screen, and #647 also reads it while checking whether a day needs re-derivation. The existing query fetches each historical day's served row and sorts the results before applying its limit. Large payloads make that work expensive even though the caller only needs the newest 60 windows. #611 explicitly leaves this reader for a separate change.
Stream served versions in descending day order from the existing covering index, then look up rows until enough non-skipped days have been found. The shared version-selection SQL keeps the existing version ceiling, and skipped days are still filtered before the limit. No schema, retention, dependency, or analytics-output changes; no algorithm-version bump is needed.
Validation:
Compare rows against the original query across older/current/future versions, skipped served versions, empty windows, exclusive before bounds, and zero/positive/unlimited limits.
Cover long runs of skipped and future-only days without falling back to an older version or under-filling the result.
Benchmark the original and bounded queries at 30, 365, and 730 days, with three versions and an approximately 100 KB payload per day/version. Alternate query order and take the median of nine warmed reads. The new performance assertion fails on main and passes with this change, requiring at least a threefold improvement at 730 days, both with and without a before bound.
Local desktop measurement at 730 days: 12.686 ms to 0.346 ms without a bound; 12.326 ms to 0.338 ms with a bound. These are query timings in flutter test, not an end-to-end sync or phone benchmark.
flutter analyze --no-pub: no issues.
Targeted sleep-window and served-version tests: 12 passed.
Linux ARM64 container, Flutter 3.41.6 / Dart 3.11.4: analyze clean; targeted health-export/sleep-window/served-version tests 23 passed; full suite with --concurrency=1, TZ=UTC: 6,633 passed, 25 skipped, no failures. Both WHOOP freeze goldens pass byte-for-byte.
macOS full suite: 6,632 passed, 25 skipped, one existing Health export test failure. The same test fails on an untouched main snapshot: it assumes a non-Apple host while HealthExporter.isApple is true on macOS. It passes on Linux; no Health code is changed here.
Stream bounded sleep-window history reads to avoid scanning and sorting unnecessary historical payloads.
Enhancements:
Optimize sleep-window history reads by streaming eligible served days in descending order and stopping after the requested number of non-skipped results.
Preserve version ceilings, skipped-day handling, exclusive before bounds, and result ordering while avoiding unnecessary large-payload reads.
Tests:
Add correctness coverage comparing bounded reads with the original query across versions, skipped and future-only days, bounds, limits, and empty windows.
Add performance coverage demonstrating at least a threefold improvement on long histories with large payloads.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Data
Served-day results are provided in descending day order, with each day associated with its selected version.
Skipped entries remain excluded, and an optional exclusive cutoff limits results to days before the specified date.
Results are limited to the requested number of entries. This keeps the returned list focused on the newest eligible served-day results while preserving the selected version for each day.

Walkthrough
sleepWindowRows now selects served day/version pairs in descending day order, then looks up each matching day_result row. It retains the skipped-row exclusion, optional exclusive before bound, and result limit.

Summary
Served-day selection and row lookup lib/data/db.dart
The query selects served day/version pairs in descending day order and uses CROSS JOIN to retrieve matching result rows. It retains the skipped-row exclusion, optional exclusive before bound, and limit.
OpenStrap/edge#611: Refactors served-version SQL and selects newest day IDs before joining rows, a pattern also used in this query.
OpenStrap/edge#609: Introduces served-version SQL fragments and newest-day selection used by this query.
OpenStrap/edge#620: Changes the sleepWindowRows read-executor path, which this SQL implementation must preserve.

The query may still scan and sort the full sleep window on some SQLite versions, weakening the intended performance improvement; validate the query plan before relying on bounded reads.

Explanation
The title "perf(db): stream bounded sleep-window reads" matches the main change. The raw summary and PR objectives both say sleepWindowRows now streams served versions in descending day order with a bounded limit, instead of the previous query shape. The title is short, specific, and follows a conventional commit style. The title names the performance goal and the affected area (db, sleep-window reads). It does not cover every detail, such as the CROSS JOIN restructuring or the benchmark tests, and that is acceptable.

Optimizes sleep-window history reads by streaming served days newest-first and stopping after the requested number of non-skipped results, avoiding whole-history payload fetches and sorting while preserving version-selection and filtering semantics. Tests establish equivalence with the original query and enforce substantial performance gains on large histories.
