Version: N/A (workflow-only change)

What does this implement/fix?

Auto Assign now assigns new issues and PRs to the user in the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization variable (currently WestwardWinds) instead of a name hard-coded in this repo.

Workflow-only change, no firmware change.

Types of changes

  • Bugfix (fixed change that fixes an issue)
  • New feature (thanks!)
  • Breaking change (repair/feature that breaks existing functionality)
  • Dependency Update - Does not publish
  • Other - Does not publish
  • Website of github readme file update - Does not publish
  • Github workflows - Does not publish

Checklist / Checklijst:

  • The code change has been tested and works locally
  • The code change has not yet been tested

If user-visible functionality or configuration variables are added/modified:

  • Added/updated documentation for the web page

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated workflow documentation to clarify how fork pull requests are assigned and where the assignee is configured.

Drop the hard-coded assignee and call the shared Workflows autoassign
workflow, which now falls back to the AUTO_ASSIGNEE organization
variable. Run on pull_request_target so assignment also works on
fork-submitted PRs; the workflow never checks out PR code.

Walkthrough

The auto-assignment workflow comments now describe its trigger, code execution behavior, and assignee source. The reusable workflow call no longer passes explicit assignee settings.

New issues and pull requests will not be automatically assigned until the reusable workflow accepts the omitted input. Restore the input or merge the dependency first; manual assignment remains available in the meantime.

ApolloAutomation Workflows autoassign.yml AUTO_ASSIGNEE PR 33 workflow_call assignees

💡 Result:

I couldn’t verify an **ApolloAutomation/Workflows PR #33** or locate an `autoassign.yml` containing `AUTO_ASSIGNEE`. The search results surfaced unrelated Apollo projects and workflows, so I can’t confirm how that variable or `workflow_call` handles assignees.

If you share the repository link—or paste the workflow and PR details—I can check whether the reusable workflow accepts an assignee input and how the caller should pass it.

Pass assignees until Workflows PR #33 merges.

The main reusable workflow still requires the assignees input. Both configured events can invoke this workflow without that input, so GitHub rejects the caller during workflow validation before the assignment job starts.
