TypeScript 7.0.2 type checks this project fine (tsc --noEmit passes), but
npm run lint fails on startup:
Error: typescript-eslint does not support TS 7.0.
The installed typescript-eslint (8.71.2) has no TS 7 support. Upstream tracks it
in typescript-eslint/typescript-eslint#10940 (support
for TS >= 7.1). Since npm run compile runs lint, the build would break.
We stay on typescript 6.0.3 for now. Revisit when typescript-eslint supports
TS 7, or run typescript-eslint on the TS 6 API side by side, as described in
https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/announcing-typescript-7-0/#running-side-by-side-with-typescript-6.0
