Summary

• Classify Anthropic EOF/truncated SSE failures as structured transient errors so existing bounded retries apply; preserve cancellation and deterministic malformed-event behavior.
• Capture safe request-level compaction diagnostics: runtime model limits, selected vs observed payload output cap, estimated input, reasoning, stage, attempts, elapsed time, stop reason and usage.
• Include diagnostics in manual/automatic failure errors and persist versioned step-compaction-failure session entries without injecting them into model context or saving partial summaries.
• Remove raw SSE bodies from parse errors and redact credential-shaped failure text.
• Document macOS IPC path limits and unconfirmed intermittent watcher/source-launch timeouts in the tests, without changing deadlines.

• Focused compaction: 203 passed, 2 skipped; provider SSE/classification/conformance: 22 passed

Earlier runs encountered a long macOS IPC path EINVAL and intermittent watcher/source-child timeouts. Short-temp focused and final full-suite reruns passed; the timeout root cause is not confirmed, deadlines were not increased. No real model APIs were invoked.

Scope

Does not increase model token limits, accept incomplete summaries, add length-stop retries, or update installed binaries. Configuration provenance and unobserved custom-stream payload budgets remain explicitly unknown.
