Problem

The Web MVP needs clearer conversation progress and connected inspection workflows. This first batch adapts DFSC presentation and interactions to the existing Web host and client.

Changes

  • Conversation and Summary: render Markdown tables, retain observed thinking durations, group thinking and ordinary tools with inline disclosures, and show structured subagent states and read-only child transcripts. Add a shared right rail with Summary and Context views.
  • File preview: recognize local file deliveries and open or toggle their Files preview, preserving tabs and rendered Markdown links.
  • Browser and terminal: add authenticated host-owned Chromium and PTY adapters with bounded streams, reconnectable tabs and owned process cleanup.
  • Performance: add a compact elapsed-time, throughput, token and cache row. Reveal disclosure arrows on hover or keyboard focus without moving labels.
  • Account settings: separate Account from General, with four regional sign-in channels, credential status, safe optional UID and cancellation guards.

Behavior and compatibility

  • Reuse existing coding-agent session, tool and permission semantics; the client does not implement another agent loop.
  • Keep unknown historical timings and subagent statuses unknown. Summary task progress uses canonical task state, not tool-call counts.
  • File references use existing workspace containment checks. Child transcripts remain read-only.
  • Hiding an inspector keeps its tabs; closing a terminal tab cleans up its owned process tree. Browser support uses an installed engine without automatic downloads.
  • Preserve cookie-only logout and read-only environment credentials. No balance or allowance UI is added.
  • Update OpenAPI, bilingual labels, runtime documentation and third-party notices. Add pinned browser and terminal dependencies with the lockfile.

Validation

  • Recorded final-head validation at effb182: pnpm run check passed on Windows with Git Bash as the script shell; 267 Web tests passed and 4 were skipped. The check includes types, guards, Web build and runtime/browser smoke.
  • Feature validation records cover installed-Chromium and real-PowerShell adapters, file delivery projection, process groups, performance metrics and account flows. Responsive and light/dark UI checks were performed during development.
  • git diff --check origin/feat/stepcode-web-mvp-gh...HEAD passed.
  • The required ./test.sh result is not yet verified; it must not be reported as passed.

Limitations

  • Pre-submission draft: merge simulation against MVP commit 91346ea reports a conflict in apps/web/client/src/ui/IconSprite/IconSprite.tsx. Resolve and revalidate before requesting merge.
  • The current main CI workflow targets main, not this MVP base; full automatic CI coverage cannot be assumed.
  • Linux/macOS native terminal behavior has not been verified. A client bundle-size advisory remains.

Render Markdown tables, preserve timed thinking history, settle response actions per turn, and project structured subagent states into read-only inspectors.

Add the shared right rail and floating Summary with canonical task progress, agent records, activity overview and accessible motion. Make existing Web validation fixtures portable on Windows and exclude generated artifacts from source linting.
Recognize workspace-local Markdown references and settled-turn outputs, open them in the shared Files inspector, and toggle the selected delivery preview without discarding tabs.

Preserve rendered Markdown links, workspace containment, missing-file errors and read-only child transcript origins. Add focused delivery and preview regression tests.
Adapt DFSC inspector controls to authenticated Web adapters with bounded streams, reconnectable tabs and host-owned process cleanup. Place Terminal directly below Context and preserve processes when panels are hidden.

Add browser and terminal API contracts, pinned dependencies, lifecycle documentation and focused tests. Keep unrelated account, composer and transcript changes outside this commit.
Show browser-observed elapsed time and response throughput with canonical session token and cache statistics. Keep metrics compact and preserve unknown historical observations.

Reveal process, tool and thinking disclosure arrows on row hover or keyboard focus without moving labels. Preserve subagent arrows and touch visibility. Add focused performance regression tests and measurement documentation.
Use the fixed DFSC Simple presentation for consecutive thinking and ordinary tools while preserving dedicated interactions, turn attachments and observed timing. Place disclosure arrows beside labels and animate tool details in both directions with cubic easing.

Add focused projection tests, bilingual labels and third-party provenance. Keep account settings and local execution records outside this change.
Separate account sign-in from General with four regional channels, credential status, safe optional UID and DFSC layout and icons. Preserve cookie-only logout and existing host credential ownership.

Guard cancelled authorization against late updates and add focused login and settings coverage.
Block protected ports across redirected browser requests and tunnels with a private authenticated proxy. Reject stale snapshots across HTTP and SSE.

Clean Windows shell descendants after natural exit and wait for startup identity before cancellation. Add focused regressions and document lifecycle boundaries.
