When searching for Splunk-related packages on PYPI it helps to have the project description filled out on PYPI. It makes the project look more official. I'm using a pyproject.toml file with hatchling as the build tool (as per packaging guidelines from about a year ago). That seems to automatically take care of setting the README.md as the prject description.

Python has changed its build tools a lot over the year. I'm guessing you're using an older tool.
