Summary
Improve the macOS desktop workspace experience while retaining Kit鈥檚 paper-and-moss visual identity. Long threads use incremental transcript projection and collapsed activity groups, with user prompts and assistant blocks always visible.
Impact
The sidebar groups conversations by project, and a dedicated Projects page previews the three latest conversations with project and conversation-title search. A searchable provider-grouped model/effort selector, context and cost details, provider account usage, media previews, and direct-child inspection bring relevant runtime capabilities to the desktop without cancelling conversations during navigation.
Technical details
Bounded transcript rendering
Stable role-scoped message identities, coalesced streaming updates, changed-entry projection, and unchanged-markdown rendering boundaries avoid reprocessing completed thread content. Expanded activity retains distinct thought messages and nested tool details; bounded tool streams explicitly mark omitted output.
Session-safe controls
Configuration changes validate refreshed server options and reject stale completions. Queued-message edits preserve the composer draft and handle delivery races; direct-child replay and text steering use separate generation/cursor-safe routing and advertised capabilities.
Existing workspace state
Project navigation and additional-directory controls use existing persisted workspace metadata. Controllers remain retained across project and conversation selection; child cost snapshots accumulate independently by currency and survive roster removal.
