Adds Suggest with AI beside a subscription's retry policy. It looks at the subscription's recent failures, proposes a policy, and shows what each kind of failure would do under the current and the suggested policy. Nothing is saved until the user saves it as a new policy.
Sent to the provider: each kind of failure as one masked first line (values, quotes, emails and URLs taken out) with counts and how often a retry fixed it, plus the current policy's rules without alert settings. No documents or response bodies.
The answer is checked like a saved policy; alerts are never taken from it.
Recorded in the audit log as suggest-retry-policy before sending. Needs subscriptions.view and retry-policies.create.
Uses the (SubscriptionId, FinishedOn) and RetryFor indexes; tested at 1.4M rows.
Only failures since 2026-10-14 carry a subscription id, so older ones aren't seen.

📝 Summary
Summary
Adds POST /api/retrysuggestions and a Suggest with AI option in the subscription retry-policy editor.
The handler loads up to 2,000 recent failures, groups them into up to 15 failure types, and sends masked samples, counts, retry outcomes, subscription type/mapper/handler identifiers, and current retry rules to the configured provider.
The handler validates the returned groups, compares current and suggested policy outcomes against real errors, and returns the prompt for inspection. It does not save the policy. Users can save the proposal as a new policy.
Requires subscriptions.view and retry-policies.create. Records suggest-retry-policy before calling the provider.
Risk
risk:medium
Security-sensitive areas
Failure data and current retry rules leave the service for the configured AI provider. Masking removes detected values and URLs, but the prompt retains error wording and subscription metadata. Current matcher rules are also sent.
The response includes the sent prompt. Review access to suggestion responses and the provider’s data-handling terms.
Alert settings are excluded from current-policy serialization, and alert settings in the model response are not applied.
Test coverage impact
Adds HTTP coverage for masked prompt data, policy output, audit recording, saveability, and the no-failures case.
Adds unit coverage for parsing and validation, masking, alert-setting exclusion, and policy outcome evaluation.
Adds frontend tests for suggestion and save flows. Test execution results were not supplied.
Deployment and operations
No migration or rollback requirement is established by the supplied evidence.
The handler clamps the lookback to 1–90 days, with a 30-day default, and caps failure processing at 2,000 records and 15 groups. It uses the (SubscriptionId, FinishedOn) and RetryFor lookup paths.
The author reports testing at 1.4M rows. This result was not independently verified. The description notes that failures before 2026-10-14 lack subscription IDs and are excluded.
The change adds an API endpoint that returns an AI-generated retry-policy proposal based on recent subscription failures. The subscription editor displays the proposal and its coverage, and users can save it as a new policy.

Summary
Prompt construction and policy evaluation SW.Bitween.Api/Services/Ai/RetryPolicyPrompt.cs, SW.Bitween.UnitTests/Ai/RetryPolicyPromptTests.cs
The prompt helper formats masked failure data, parses and validates proposed policy groups, and evaluates their outcomes. Unit tests cover these behaviors.
Suggestion endpoint and response SW.Bitween.Api/Domain/OperatorAction.cs, SW.Bitween.Api/Resources/RetrySuggestions/Suggest.cs, SW.Bitween.HttpTests/RetrySuggestionTests.cs, docs/api-reference.md
The endpoint checks permissions, gathers recent failures, records an operator action, requests a proposal, and returns coverage without saving a policy. HTTP tests cover successful suggestions and subscriptions with no failures.
Web API types and request methods SW.Bitween.Web/ClientApp/src/api/types.ts, SW.Bitween.Web/ClientApp/src/api/client.ts, SW.Bitween.Web/ClientApp/src/api/http/retryPolicies.ts
The client adds the suggestion response type and methods to request a proposal and save its groups as a new retry policy.
The subscription editor opens a dialog to request and inspect suggestions, view coverage and sent data, and save a proposal. Frontend tests and documentation cover the flow.
Resolve credential redaction before merging: some partner error messages can send secrets to the AI provider. The suggestion preview also needs corrections so users can reliably compare policies. Cancellation and saving have narrower cost and responsiveness issues.

The cards list groups in provider array order and omit priority. The evaluator applies groups in ascending priority order, and the first matching group decides. A Block card can therefore say "not retried" for an error that a lower-priority Allow group retries. Show each group's priority, and sort the cards by priority before rendering them. Alternatively, state that an earlier group can override the card.
The coverage table shows the true outcome only for the top 15 error kinds. For other errors, the cards are the only per-group guide.

Minor · Propagate request cancellation to the AI provider call. · SuggestRetryPolicy.tsx:137-139
Propagate request cancellation to the AI provider call.
Cancel in SuggestRetryPolicy.tsx aborts only the browser request. Suggest.Handle (SW.Bitween.Api/Resources/RetrySuggestions/Suggest.cs:71) takes no CancellationToken, and model.Complete (line 130) receives none. The provider call therefore keeps running after Cancel, until it returns or the 3-minute AiModels.CallTimeout expires. Each cancelled call can still bill input tokens and up to 4000 output tokens. Pass the request's abort token into the handler and through IAiModel.Complete to the Anthropic and OpenAI SDK calls. The existing pattern is Xchanges/Update.cs:152, which uses HttpContext.RequestAborted.

Update the Suggest request flow so cancellation from HttpContext.RequestAborted
reaches Suggest.Handle, is passed through IAiModel.Complete, and is honored by
the Anthropic and OpenAI SDK calls. Follow the existing cancellation-token
pattern in Xchanges/Update.cs while keeping the Suggest button’s browser-request
cancellation behavior intact.
Suggest.cs records the SuggestRetryPolicy audit before model.Complete, so a failed or timed-out provider call stays on record. The only audit assertion runs after a successful call, so moving RecordNowAsync below model.Complete would leave the suite passing. A test whose fake model throws, followed by an audit assertion, would fail under that reordering.

If the fixture rethrows unhandled exceptions from the request, the PostAsJsonAsync call needs to tolerate that exception. The audit assertion stays the same.
