PronyZener: the general n-mode law, with a caveat about its prospects #301

Description

@sbryngelson

The general n-mode relaxation law, subsuming TwoModeQuadraticZener at n = 2.

Invasive: De and LAM are scalars throughout _stress and would become per-mode arrays.

The caveat is the reason this is filed rather than started. It generalises exactly the direction that already came back negative — a second relaxation time left the residual's lag-one autocorrelation at 0.918, unchanged, and a rate-dependent one moved it only to 0.875. So a richer discrete spectrum is not the missing physics on the records analysed, and PronyZener is a weaker prospect than its scope suggests.

Migrated from the deleted docs/open-work.md (item 14).
