This PR requires eclipse-lemminx/lemminx#1884

Add a new context menu command that generates a grammar (XSD, DTD, RelaxNG)
from an XML document. The wizard guides through grammar type selection, binding type choice (filtered per grammar), and grammar filename input. Requires the server-side xml.grammar.generateFromXml command in LemminX.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added a command to generate an XSD, DTD, Relax NG, or Relax NG Compact grammar from an XML document. Access it from the Command Palette or XML and Explorer context menus when available.
    • Choose how to associate the generated grammar with the XML document. The grammar opens in the editor, and existing files are overwritten only after confirmation.
  • Documentation
    • Added a guide to generating grammars from XML and updated related generation, command, and refactoring documentation, including formatter-ignore markers.

Adds a command to generate an XSD, DTD, RelaxNG, or RelaxNG Compact grammar from an XML document. The command collects binding and output options, requests grammar content from the language server, and writes the grammar. Documentation covers the workflow and command access.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Reject non-file documents before deriving the grammar path.

On Line 740, any active document with languageId === 'xml' is accepted, including untitled documents. For an untitled:Untitled-1 URI, documentURI.fsPath is Untitled-1, so path.dirname returns .. path.join then produces a relative path. As a result, fs.writeFileSync on Line 853 writes the grammar into the extension host's working directory, not next to the XML document. Uri.file(grammarFilePath) also resolves against that working directory, so the server receives a wrong grammar URI for the binding. Check documentURI.scheme === 'file' and stop with an error for other schemes.

Provide the required LemMinX command in the default server distribution.

When binary mode downloads the configured latest artifact, the inspected 0.29.3 artifact lacks xml.grammar.generateFromXml. The client calls this command before it processes the result, so grammar generation can fail before binding-type handling.

Update the default server artifact or bundle a compatible server before exposing this command. Do not require a binding-label remap without the server-side protocol contract.

Document the Explorer context-menu exception.

The Command Palette and editor context-menu entries are hidden when the document has a bound grammar. The Explorer entry remains visible, but the handler rejects the invocation and shows an error. Clarify this exception instead of replacing the Command Palette statement with a general guard description.

Suggested documentation fix
This entry is only visible in the editor context menu when the XML document has no grammar bound.
+
+In the Explorer context menu, the entry remains visible for an XML document with a bound grammar. Selecting it shows an error and does not generate a grammar.

works well with Java (binary issue is in eclipse-lemminx/lemminx#1884)

A few small things:

  • For File association there is a 4th step (the pattern). Maybe mention it in the doc, since it lists only 3 steps.
  • The doc says the binding is "inserted into the XML file", but for File association it goes into the settings instead.

Fixed, could you please accept the review.

Add a new context menu command that generates a grammar (XSD, DTD,
RelaxNG)
from an XML document. The wizard guides through grammar type selection,
binding type choice (filtered per grammar), and grammar filename input.
Requires the server-side xml.grammar.generateFromXml command in LemminX.
