#### 2.a. Example 1: Search Using Keywords

Searching for level 4 ocean current data archived at PO.DAAC

When searching for ocean current data, using a single keyword search for `ocean currents` returns a broad mix of collections — model output, altimetry-derived products, in-situ drifter data, and more. The **Filters** panel on the left lets us combine several search filters to narrow this down:

1. **Keyword search**: start broad with `ocean current` in the search bar
2. **Keywords** (Science Keywords) filter: *Oceans > Ocean Circulation* > Ocean Currents*
3. **Organizations** filter: select `PO.DAAC` to restrict to data archived at this DAAC
4. **Processing Levels filter: check `4 - Gridded Model Output` to browse the gridded products rather than data on un-gridded satellite passes

![*Figure caption: Combining keyword, Science Keywords, Organization, and Processing Level filters to find ocean current data*](../images/EarthDataSearch/ed_search_2a_1.png) ![](../images/EarthDataSearch/ed_search_2a_2.png)

Combining multiple search filters narrows down ~500 collections to a short, specific list of ~30.

#### 2.b. Example 2: Search Using Spatial Bounds with Keywords

Searching for highest available resolution level 4 data within known spatial bounds

1. Use the **Spatial** search tool above the map (the icons at the top of the search panel) to define the area. You can:
- Draw a **rectangle**, **polygon**, or **circle** directly on the map,
- Enter a single **point** (lat/lon) with a search radius,
- Or upload a **Shapefile, KML, GeoJSON, or GeoRSS** file

Earthdata Search immediately filters the collection list to only those with data intersecting the drawn area, updating live as you adjust the shape

2. **Keywords** (Science Keywords) filter: *Oceans > Ocean Circulation* > Ocean Currents*
3. **Processing Levels** filter: check `4 - Gridded Model Output` for an analysis-ready gridded product rather than raw along-track satellite passes
4. **Horizontal Data Resolution** filter: check `4 - 10 to 50km` to browse the gridded products rather than data on un-gridded satellite passes

Combining multiple search filters narrows down ~11,000 collections to a short, specific list of 4.
