Hard shakes past 4 g on one axis were dropped as glitches, flattening the peak the shake detector looks for; now only the all-zero Bluetooth report is filtered. Fixes #226

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved Wii Remote and Nunchuk motion input handling by filtering invalid accelerometer readings, including zeroed reports and specific out-of-range motion patterns. This helps prevent glitches in motion input while preserving valid readings that were previously rejected too broadly.

📝 Walkthrough

The accelerometer decoder skips reports with three zero axes. The glitch filter retains exact-zero rejection and updates its rules for remote and Nunchuk samples.

Changes: Accelerometer Glitch Detection

Layer / File(s) Summary
Update sample rejection rules
runtime/src/wii_remote_input.cpp, aurora-main/cmake/AuroraSDL3Patches.cmake
The remote threshold constant is renamed and retains its 4 g value. Remote samples are rejected when x exceeds 4 g and y and z are each below −4 g. Nunchuk samples are rejected when each axis is within 0.03 g of (2.56, −2.56, −2.56). Exact-zero vectors remain rejected. The decoder skips processing when all decoded axes are zero.

A zero report around calibration can make the next KPAD read emit a one-sample acceleration jump. The impact is localized, but the SDL early return should be removed before merging.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #226 reports missed wheelie and trick shakes with a Wii Remote and Nunchuk over Windows Bluetooth. runtime/src/wii_remote_input.cpp now preserves single-axis readings above 4 g and rejects the decoded all-zero remote report pattern. aurora-main/cmake/AuroraSDL3Patches.cmake also prevents SDL from updating the accelerometer for an all-zero raw report. These changes preserve hard-shake peaks and remove the reported false sample. Issue #226 has no formal automated-test requirement.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The changes are limited to Wii Remote accelerometer report filtering in runtime/src/wii_remote_input.cpp and the matching SDL decoder guard in aurora-main/cmake/AuroraSDL3Patches.cmake. Both changes directly support issue #226. No unrelated change is established by the supplied review evidence.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 100.00% which is sufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 2 functions across 1 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

- Around line 259-269: In the SDL acceleration decode block, check raw x, y, and
z before applying EEPROM calibration; for an all-zero report, set all decoded
values to exactly zero, otherwise retain the existing per-axis calibration. This
lets IsGlitchedSample reject the report while preserving valid single-axis
peaks.
