feat(components): edit values, list @for blocks and add console handles - #382
Conversation
…he panel and agents The component detail showed live values but gave no way to try another one without changing the source and reloading. Each input and property row now says whether the page can write it (`edit`) or why it cannot (`locked`), and writable rows get an Edit button that takes a JSON value. Plain fields and decorator inputs are assigned and the view refreshed with `ng.applyChanges`; writable signals are set through their own `set()`. Agents get the same writes through `set-component-property` and `set-signal`. Both are action tools, refuse to guess between tabs, and are turned off with the new `actions.components` option. Refs #341
The Components tab listed defer blocks but said nothing about `@for` loops, so an empty list with no `@empty` block or a loop tracked by `$index` had to be found in the source. From Angular 22, the overlay reads the blocks through `ng.ɵgetControlFlowBlocks`, sharing one walk with the defer block tracker, and reports each block's owner, item count, track kind and `@empty` state with the component tree. The panel shows them in an @for blocks list under the defer blocks, and the new `for-blocks` agent tool answers the same per page. Refs #341
To poke at a selected component in the browser console, you had to find its host element and call `ng.getComponent` by hand. Selecting a component in the panel now sets `$ng0` on that page, with the previous selections in `$ng1` to `$ng4`. Store as global, in the component detail, the Injectors provider rows and the NgRx tab, stores the value as `temp1`, `temp2` and so on and shows the name it used. Only the tab that owns the selection writes the globals, the overlay never overwrites a name the page set itself, and the value never leaves the page: only the variable name comes back to the panel. …blocks A block that one component content-projects into another was listed with the component it was projected into, because the owner came from the anchor's parent element. Read it through ng.getOwningComponent and ng.getHostElement from the block's anchor instead, and fall back to the nearest host above the node when those utils are missing. Refs #341

leafOfcheckskey in current. That check also matches inherited keys.replacedusesObject.hasOwn, so it rejects the same path with aPathError. Consider a signal that holds{}and the pathfilters.toString.leafOfreads the inherited function.replacedthen throws aPathError, so the write is refused safely. The first reason the user sees is still "does not exist, or goes through a value that is not a plain object". Use the same own-key check in both functions so they agree.Proposed fix

This is the first slice of phase 2 (#341): the Components items for editing values in place,

It's on by default and listed in the configuration docs.signal(),linkedSignal(),model()) is changed with.set().ng.applyChanges.computed()/asReadonly()signals, outputs, methods, getters with no setter, and values that aren't JSON are refused with a reason. Dotted and bracket paths into an object work.request-component-edit→ page →component-edit-result) and only the page that owns the component may answer. Withoutpage, it's refused unless exactly one page reports components.role=alertand success shows a polite status. Read-only rows say why they can't be edited.set-signalonly covers signals a component holds as a property. Signals in the Signals inspector graph are addressed through Angular internals, so they're left out, and the docs say so.@forblocksɵgetControlFlowBlocks(Angular 22 and later) already returned@forentries, butdefer-blocks.tsdropped them. A shared reader now walks the blocks once for both@deferand@for.$index, item, or expression; Angular doesn't expose the source text), and whether@emptyis defined or showing. Ids are stable per anchor. The list is capped at 500 with a truncation flag.for-blocks, plus a "@for blocks" section next to the@defersection in the panel. @forblocks: a@forwritten in one component's template but projected into another is listed under the projecting component. A fix is following on this branch.actions.*gate for console handles and Store as global. They follow the forms$formrule: they don't change the app. They're gated by the matching inspector being on and by page ownership.Generated by Claude Code
