OT Fabric

Unified Data for Industrial Operations

OT Fabric is an organization focused on breaking OT data silos and making industrial data discoverable, accessible, and usable across systems, sites, and teams.

Industrial environments are full of valuable data, but that data is often trapped behind protocol complexity, vendor boundaries, isolated networks, custom integrations, and inconsistent asset models. OT Fabric exists to bridge that gap.

Our goal is to help industrial operators, engineers, integrators, and data teams move from fragmented device access to a more open, structured, and reusable data foundation.

What we do

OT Fabric builds tools, libraries, and platform components for:

  • OT protocol discovery
  • device and endpoint identification
  • industrial asset onboarding
  • data collection and normalization
  • mapping OT data into modern systems
  • reducing integration effort across sites and vendors

We focus on practical industrial realities:

  • heterogeneous devices
  • legacy protocols
  • private networks
  • imperfect documentation
  • inconsistent data models
  • the need for safe, observable, repeatable data access

Why OT Fabric

Operational Technology environments often suffer from the same core problems:

  • data is locked inside devices and gateways
  • each protocol requires specialized knowledge
  • onboarding assets is slow and manual
  • integrations are fragile and vendor-specific
  • collected data is hard to standardize and reuse
  • engineering teams repeatedly solve the same connectivity and mapping problems

OT Fabric aims to provide a common foundation so industrial data can flow more easily into monitoring, analytics, control-adjacent systems, and engineering workflows.

Our mission

Our mission is to create an open and practical foundation for industrial data connectivity.

That means:

  • making OT assets easier to discover
  • making protocols easier to work with
  • making data collection easier to deploy
  • making industrial data easier to model and consume
  • making disconnected systems easier to connect

In short:
from isolated devices to connected industrial data ecosystems

Areas of focus

Protocol discovery and connectivity

We build tooling to detect, probe, fingerprint, and communicate with industrial endpoints across common OT protocols.

Asset onboarding

We aim to make it easier to turn discovered devices into structured inventory with meaningful metadata, capabilities, and reusable data mappings.

Data collection

We work on reliable collection patterns for extracting data from industrial devices and making that data available to downstream systems.

Data normalization

Raw OT data is not enough. We care about creating structures that make industrial data understandable, comparable, and reusable.

Open tooling

We believe the OT ecosystem benefits from practical open tools that reduce friction for developers, integrators, and operators.

What “Fabric” means

The name OT Fabric reflects our core idea:

A fabric connects many separate parts into something stronger and more useful as a whole.

In the same way, OT Fabric connects:

  • devices
  • protocols
  • sites
  • data pipelines
  • engineering systems
  • analytics platforms
  • operational workflows

The result is a more connected and usable industrial data landscape.

Who this is for

OT Fabric is relevant for:

  • industrial operators
  • system integrators
  • OT engineers
  • automation engineers
  • SCADA / PLC / edge solution builders
  • data engineers working with industrial sources
  • software teams building OT-aware platforms
  • organizations trying to modernize industrial data access

Principles

We care about building systems that are:

  • practical — grounded in real OT environments
  • open — designed for interoperability
  • modular — useful as libraries, tools, or platform components
  • observable — designed with visibility and diagnostics in mind
  • repeatable — deployable across sites and projects
  • extensible — ready to support more protocols, models, and workflows over time

Current direction

OT Fabric is evolving toward a broader ecosystem of:

  • protocol-aware tooling
  • discovery and scanning components
  • inventory and onboarding services
  • data collection pipelines
  • reusable libraries for industrial connectivity
  • platform building blocks for OT data integration

Vision

We believe industrial data should not remain trapped in disconnected silos.

The long-term vision of OT Fabric is to help create a world where:

  • OT assets are easier to discover
  • industrial data is easier to understand
  • site onboarding is faster
  • integrations are less fragile
  • data can move more freely into engineering and analytics workflows
  • teams spend less time fighting connectivity and more time creating value
