Yep, broken for me too. All apps that access Nextcloud storage can no longer upload since upgrading to 34.0.1 earlier this week. The apps will detect they don't have access, error out, and a 0KB file is created on the server side for whatever the app was trying to do.

I have the same issue when opencam tries to store files on my nextcloud. Pease release a hot fix without the SAF to Nextcloud the App is nearly useless.
I tried the QA APK and I was able to export files in the FitoTrack app directly to NC via the Files app. That wouldn't work in 34.0.1. I also use the app SMS Backup & Restore and it still fails to access NC storage. I'm on LineageOS (22) and I've always selected a location using the Files app, which lets me select NC as a storage location and then I select my desired upload folder from there. I'm still getting 0KB files, and the app errors saying it can't access the storage.

via #17157 but still appears in your logs. Probably because of the DocumentStorageProvider implementation.
Is it possible to share screen-recording? Thus maybe I can try to reproduce it.
Running v35.0.1 and trying to use Nextcloud with HealthConnect backups. Nextcloud can be selected from the provider list. Selecting any folder results in Health Connect.zip files with zero bytes. Feels a lot like this bug.
Supposed fix #17270 does not have a milestone tag but assume it would be part of 35.0.1?
@tobiasKaminsky can you re-open or do you want a new issue for the remaining problem?

Hey,
Could you please check via this QA APK: #17890 ? It will be generated soon.
Sadly Android again complains that There was a problem with the export for October 27, 2026. Please set up a new scheduled export and try again.
This matches the previous problematic behavior.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Can u re-test via latest QA APK and share the logs from settings -> logs? You can filter logs via DocumentsStorageProvider

Fantastic - Health Connect backup worked as expected in latest test build. So happy this finally works 🎉
Thanks so much for your fast responses, re-opening and properly fixing the issue. I think that should be it.
Sidequest: While I have your attention, I have another external app access issue I noticed but that is not about write error but discoverability of Nextcloud. Can you help me understand against which project I would want to file the report? Repro steps:
open Firefox > ... > Extensions > uBlock Origin > Settings > Restore from file... (at the bottom)
in the file picker open hamburger menu at top left
many apps like Galleries, Google Drive, File managers and more do show but Nextcloud is absent
Unsure if this is expected or not, but the fact that Google Drive shows up indicates that Nextcloud should be on that list as well. Is this something that needs to be addressed in Nextcloud, Firefox or in the end Android?

Thats exactly the regression I experience.
Downgraded to 34.0.0 and it fixed it.

Probably the same as #17261 which has a few more specifics on the cause.

Hello
Once the QA APK generated could you please test and share your feedback?

@kstorbakken So "SMS Backup & Restore" this still failed with QA APK? If yes could you share the logs if possible?
kstorbakken commentedon Jul 6, 2026
Yeah exactly. I started a log capture and went through a backup. The log is here - https://gist.github.com/kstorbakken/2e4d428c2c6e46b85f2d26c65070df54

Is this actually fixed? I still saw lots of people complaining that it did not work even after trying the QA build for #17270.
Can anyone who reported here that they were seeing this issue confirm that it is now working?
pawlosck commentedon Oct 6, 2026
Its not fixed for me.
