LGTM — lock-only Dependabot bump of certifi (2025.8.3 -> 2026.10.19) and pillow (12.3.0 -> 13.0.0); no bugs found.
What was reviewed
- Lock entries: all 85 rewritten artifact URLs are on files.pythonhosted.org and are named for the new versions. pillow 13 wheels cover cp311-cp315 on Linux and Windows, matching the CI matrix. The
pyproject.tomlspecifiers and theirrequires-distmirrors are unchanged. Hashes were not compared against PyPI (no network here); uv checks them at install, so a mismatch fails CI. - pillow major bump: the only PIL consumer is
examples/snippets/servers/images.py(Image.open,thumbnail,tobytes). None of these is among the 13.0.0 removals or deprecations named in the release notes quoted in the PR description (the quoted notes are truncated), so I don't expect new warnings underfilterwarnings = error. - Release age, ruled out: both releases (uploaded 2026-10-16 and 2026-10-20) are inside the 14-day cooldown in
.github/dependabot.yml, but this is thepython-securitygroup, and Dependabot's cooldown does not apply to security updates.
Extended reasoning...
The change touches only uv.lock (89 insertions, 84 deletions) in a single Dependabot commit, re-pinning transitive certifi and dev-group pillow. No source, test, docs or pyproject.toml changes, so published requirements are unaffected. The only security-relevant surface is supply-chain integrity of the lock: every new artifact URL is a PyPI-hosted file named for the bumped version, and uv enforces the hashes at install. Approval was decided by the mechanical nature of the bump, the single trivial PIL consumer in an example snippet, the absence of a CODEOWNERS file, and no reviews or objections in the timeline.
Bumps the python-security group with 2 updates in the / directory: pillow and certifi.
