Summary

既存のhelper/backend差し替えも維持します。

Performance

Tests

  • uv run --locked --all-extras pytest -m 'not com and not render' -q --cov=exstruct --cov-report=term --cov-fail-under=80: 1017 passed、1 skipped、coverage 83.04%。
  • uv run --locked --all-extras pytest -m com -q: 実Excel COMで8 passed。
  • RUN_RENDER_SMOKE=1でpytest -m render -q: 実PDF/PNG出力3 passed。
  • RUN_LIBREOFFICE_SMOKE=1 / FORCE_LIBREOFFICE_SMOKE=1でLibreOffice smoke: 1 passed。
  • Ruff check、format check、strict mypy、diff check

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Excel extraction no longer requires pandas and retains support for values, dates, hyperlinks, and sparse cells in XLSX and XLS files.
    • SciPy is optional; install the fast extra for accelerated border clustering. Python-based clustering remains available without SciPy.
    • Light extraction can run without loading spreadsheet automation backends.
  • Performance
    • Workbook data is reused during extraction, reducing repeated workbook opens.
  • Documentation
    • Updated installation guidance, dependency requirements, and benchmark results.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The PR changes extraction to read worksheet cells directly, share openpyxl workbooks within each pipeline run, and defer backend imports. It moves SciPy to an optional extra with Python fallback and adds regression tests, CI checks, benchmarks, and documentation.

Changes

Extraction and clustering behavior

Layer / File(s) Summary
Direct worksheet readers and parity
src/exstruct/core/cells.py, src/exstruct/core/cell_types.py, src/exstruct/core/backends/base.py, pyproject.toml, tests/core/cells_reader_expected.json, tests/core/test_cells_reader_parity.py, dev-docs/specs/excel-extraction.md
Cell extraction uses direct openpyxl reads for .xlsx/.xlsm and xlrd for .xls. The project removes pandas from required dependencies and adds reader parity fixtures and tests.
Extraction-scoped workbook reuse
src/exstruct/core/openpyxl_session.py, src/exstruct/core/backends/openpyxl_backend.py, src/exstruct/core/cells.py, src/exstruct/core/pipeline.py, tests/core/test_openpyxl_extraction_session.py, tests/benchmark/test_performance.py, dev-docs/architecture/pipeline.md, dev-docs/specs/excel-extraction.md, dev-docs/adr/ADR-0011-*
The pipeline shares session-managed workbook variants across compatible extraction stages. Formula workbooks load on request, and session workbooks close when extraction ends.
Lazy backend imports and shared OOXML shapes
src/exstruct/core/_lazy.py, src/exstruct/core/backends/*, src/exstruct/core/pipeline.py, src/exstruct/core/workbook.py, src/exstruct/core/drawing_geometry.py, src/exstruct/core/shapes.py, tests/core/test_backend_import_isolation.py, dev-docs/specs/excel-extraction.md
Backend classes and xlwings load on demand. OOXML shape construction moves to a shared module used by the OOXML and LibreOffice backends.
Optional SciPy clustering and evaluation
src/exstruct/core/cells.py, pyproject.toml, README.md, README.ja.md, docs/api.md, tests/core/test_border_clustering_issue148.py, benchmark/issue148_*, benchmark/baselines/issue148-*, benchmark/issue148-results.md, dev-docs/adr/ADR-0012-*, dev-docs/specs/*
SciPy moves to the optional fast extra and remains in all. Clustering tests and benchmark tools compare SciPy, Python, and sparse implementations; the sparse BFS implementation remains evaluation-only.
Integrated validation and decision records
.github/workflows/pytest.yml, CHANGELOG.md, benchmark/baselines/issues145-148-*, benchmark/issues145-148-results.md, dev-docs/adr/README.md, dev-docs/adr/decision-map.md, dev-docs/adr/index.yaml, dev-docs/adr/reviews/*
CI checks base installation on Ubuntu and Windows. The changelog, integrated benchmark records, ADR indexes, and review notes document the changes and validation results.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7b00e

Workbook reuse is scoped to individual extractions, and the inspected changes preserve existing backend selection boundaries. No introduced security issue was established. Handling untrusted workbooks still depends on parser and Excel settings that were not verified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — A caller-selected workbook reaches parsers in the extraction process and, in existing COM-enabled modes, Excel automation under the executing account. The inspected evidence does not establish a remotely exposed service, tenant boundary, or deployment-specific credential scope.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • inferred — The bounded comparison does not establish a newly introduced COM route or active hyperlink consumer. Excel opening remains a pre-existing privileged boundary without explicit macro or link policy in the inspected wrapper; its runtime security settings are unresolved, not a verified PR-introduced vulnerability.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — COM table detection reuses a session worksheet only when resolved workbook paths match and the default helper remains active. Equal worksheet names alone are insufficient; mismatched workbooks and helper overrides use the independent path-based route.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Per-call ownership and unconditional session cleanup limit the new reuse mechanism's failure propagation across extractions. This does not establish content-version locking during file replacement, safe external sharing of one session, or successful resource closure under every runtime failure.

- Around line 2067-2073: Update the session fast path in detect_tables to use
openpyxl_session only when its resolved file path matches the resolved
excel_path; otherwise use the normal detector on excel_path. Preserve the
existing default-detector check and table detection behavior for matching
workbooks.

- Line 74: Update the workbook path passed to exstruct.extract in the probe to
resolve from the repository root derived from the test file, rather than relying
on the working directory; preserve the existing extraction mode and workbook.
