1. preserve stage dependencies and fragment exits(6da7fb45c)

2. emit helper structs referenced by stage function signatures(180a72a5e)

IO struct

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed shader compilation for conditional fragment helpers and their associated struct types across GLSL ES 1.00 and 3.00, including builds with and without MATERIAL_TEST_LIGHT.
    • Fixed fragment shaders with early returns so each return behaves correctly and its color reaches the rendered output.
    • Improved function validation to account for every return statement, reporting missing returns in non-void functions and returns in void functions.

luzhuang and others added 2 commits October 17, 2026 15:47
…n signatures (生产代码 +79/-4)

Pass-scope helper functions (e.g. direct-light/IBL routines taking
SurfaceData/BSDFData) can be pulled into a stage whose entry never
references their parameter types. The IO-struct-only emission inside
_visitGlobalMacroIfStatement then drops those struct declarations,
producing stage GLSL that uses the type before it is declared.

Add _emitReferencedHelperStructs: scan the function signatures this
stage already emitted, resolve non-IO struct types through the pass
symbol table, and emit them at the top of the stage output (index -1)
so declarations precede every use. Recurse into field types for
nested helper structs and dedupe by node + name so IO structs emitted
via _getCustomStruct are not repeated.

Walkthrough

The shader compiler now tracks multiple function returns, generates explicit fragment returns for GLSL ES 1.00 and 3.00, and emits helper structs referenced by functions and macro branches. New tests cover macro compilation and early fragment-return rendering.

Changes

Shader Compiler Code Generation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Track and generate fragment returns
packages/shader-compiler/src/parser/AST.ts, packages/shader-compiler/src/parser/SemanticAnalyzer.ts, packages/shader-compiler/src/codeGen/GLESVisitor.ts, packages/shader-compiler/src/codeGen/GLES100.ts, packages/shader-compiler/src/codeGen/GLES300.ts, tests/src/shader-compiler/ShaderCompiler.test.ts
Semantic analysis collects all return statements for each function. GLES generation marks every fragment return and emits return; with the fragment-color assignment. Rendering tests check early returns in both GLSL versions.
Register references and emit helper structs
packages/shader-compiler/src/codeGen/CodeGenVisitor.ts, packages/shader-compiler/src/codeGen/GLESVisitor.ts, tests/src/shader-compiler/ShaderCompiler.test.ts
Macro value expressions register struct-property references. GLES generation emits referenced helper structs and their dependent field types once. Tests compile fragment helper macros with and without MATERIAL_TEST_LIGHT in both GLSL versions.

Skip structs already emitted by _getGlobalSymbol.

When a local declaration registers SurfaceData as a referenced struct, _getGlobalSymbol emits that struct but does not update either helper-struct tracking set. If a referenced function signature also uses SurfaceData, _emitReferencedHelperStructs emits it again at index -1. GLSL then reports a struct redefinition error.

Skip non-macro STRUCT entries already present in _referencedGlobals, or record those structs in the emitted sets inside _getGlobalSymbol.

Emit dependent helper structs before the structs that use them.

Every helper struct gets index: -1. Array.prototype.sort is stable, so the output keeps push order. A struct is pushed first, and its field types are queued and pushed after it. Here is an example:

  • struct BSDFData { SurfaceData s; }; is in a referenced function signature.
  • SurfaceData is not.
  • The output then contains BSDFData before SurfaceData.

GLSL requires a type to be declared before use, so the stage fails to compile. The PR states that nested helper structs are emitted before their uses. This code does not do that.

Emit in post-order: first emit the field types, then the struct itself. After that, give indices in that order.

🐛 Proposed fix: post-order emission
