When a frame is undecorated and has no custom titlebar, the left, right, and top 5-pixel edge zones are no longer native resize regions. Those pixels are buffer text, so a left press now reaches the buffer instead of calling drag_resize_window first.
The bottom edge remains available so an undecorated frame can still be resized by mouse.
A positive custom-titlebar height still restores every edge.
Tests that exercise top/side edges now set an explicit positive titlebar height.
New resize_edge_sides_require_custom_titlebar covers the zero-height side columns and pins the remaining bottom-edge behavior at the center and both bottom corners.
Dead chrome controls
Two controls that had runtime support but no working Lisp surface are now wired:
neomacs-set-scroll-indicators is a real Rust subr. neomacs-scroll-indicator-mode now toggles ConfigCommand::SetScrollIndicators instead of signaling void-function.
neomacs-set-extra-spacing is a real Rust subr. The neomacs-extra-line-spacing and neomacs-extra-letter-spacing setters now push ConfigCommand::SetExtraSpacing.
Three dead surfaces with no runtime consumer were removed instead of pretending to work:
neomacs-set-toolbar-config, neomacs-toolbar-icon-size, and neomacs-toolbar-padding. The working neomacs-toolbar-icon-theme and neomacs-toolbar-icon-directory options remain; icon size and padding are derived from the toolbar band height by the layout engine.
neomacs-set-ligatures-enabled, neomacs-ligatures-enabled, and the no-op ConfigCommand::SetLigaturesEnabled.
neomacs-set-font-backend and neomacs-font-backend.
The two new subrs are added to the GNU subr surface manifests.
Validation
cargo nextest run -p neomacs-display-runtime --lib -E 'test(resize_edge) or test(titlebar)' — 32 passed

the_gui_terminal_layer_does_not_load_easy_mmode was not usable as evidence in this worktree: the source bootstrap compiles Lisp and leaves easy-mmode loaded before the test's evaluation, so its pre-eval (t nil t) assertion fails independently of this change. The source-preload anchor test passes.
The change adds Lisp controls for scroll indicators and extra spacing, with forwarding through the display host to render configuration commands. It removes toolbar customizations and a ligature configuration command. Side resize detection now requires a positive custom titlebar height.

Summary
Display host methods and render forwarding crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/display/display_host/mod.rs, crates/neomacs/src/main.rs, crates/neomacs/src/tests/main_test.rs
The display host adds methods for scroll indicators and extra spacing. The primary window host sends the matching render configuration commands, and a test checks command order and values.
Lisp commands and registration crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/display/neo/chrome/*, crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/display/neo/mod.rs, crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/lisp/native/builtins/subrs/mod.rs, crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/tests/gnu_surface/subr_test.rs, crates/neovm-oracle-tests/src/subr_surface_build_differences.rs
The new Lisp subroutines validate arguments and call the display host when present. Native registration, tests, and primitive ledgers include both controls.
Lisp option setters and mode references lisp/term/neo-win.el, crates/neovm-core/src/emacs_core/display/window_cmds/tests/window_system_preload_test.rs
Spacing setters call the new subroutine directly. Toolbar configuration declarations and customizations are removed. Preload-test comments identify the scroll-indicator mode.
eval-exec/neomacs#630: Restricts the top resize edge based on custom titlebar height; this PR applies the condition to the side edges.
eval-exec/neomacs#629: Changes the default custom titlebar height to zero, which relates to the resize-zone conditions changed here.
Merge Risk: Low · up to c9e90
An unusually large spacing value can disrupt text rendering. The remaining risk is narrow and does not otherwise block merging.

Reject spacing that overflows f32.
If Lisp supplies a finite value such as 1e40, this cast produces infinity after the finite-value check. neomacs-set-extra-spacing then sends infinity to the renderer, which applies the spacing to glyphs and cursors. Check that the converted f32 is finite before calling the display host. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

🔵 Needs a closer look
A maintainer's confirmation is needed on the intended UX and breaking tradeoffs of removing resize edges and user-facing defcustoms, which exceeds automated judgment.

What changed in this PR
This PR fixes two unrelated GUI defects in the Neomacs port. First, it stops an undecorated frame (with no custom titlebar) from treating its left/right/top 5px edges as native resize zones, so left-clicks in those columns reach the buffer instead of being stolen by drag_resize_window; the bottom edge stays resizable. Second, it wires two chrome controls (neomacs-set-scroll-indicators, neomacs-set-extra-spacing) that had render-thread support but no Lisp surface, and deletes three dead surfaces (toolbar config/size/padding, font ligatures, font backend) that had no runtime consumer.
Changes:
Gate undecorated left/right/top resize edges on a positive custom-titlebar height in detect_resize_edge_for_chrome, keeping the bottom edge available.
Add a new neo::chrome subr module (neomacs-set-scroll-indicators, neomacs-set-extra-spacing), two DisplayHost trait methods, and their GUI forwarding to existing ConfigCommands; register the subrs and update both GNU subr-surface manifests.
Remove the no-op ConfigCommand::SetLigaturesEnabled and the dead neomacs-* toolbar/ligatures/font-backend Lisp customizations, and un-guard the extra-spacing setters.
