Improve pre-push checks and correct historic mistakes [] - #488
This change introduces an improved version of the pre-push checker that:
allows the spell checking functions to work better with CamelCase names,
adds a per-directory dictionary to allow domain-specific exceptions,
excludes binary files from checks,
understands that md tables, rst blocks, and rst tables cannot be wrapped,
and does not enforce line length on yml, yaml, or json files.
Additionally, as the prior file state is assumed to contain no spelling mistakes, a pass has been taken to correct spelling mistakes so further mistakes of the same kind are caught.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Spelling checks now recognize identifier naming patterns and support scoped exceptions for project-specific terms.
Long-line checks account for common markup tables and data-file formats where long lines are expected.
Added guidance for managing spelling exceptions.
Bug Fixes
Spelling checks now skip binary files and report invalid exception lists.
Corrected spelling and wording across documentation and change history.

Distinguish pending Changes entries from ordinary files.
Pending entries are not compared with their old version. The checker compares them with the target Changes file and their directives instead. A previously present rejected word can therefore still block a push or CI. Document this exception. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Document identifiers that remain whole.
edgspelling.preprocess leaves some CamelCase identifiers whole, including getXValue. If aspell rejects one, allowing only its parts will not suppress the report. Document that the whole reported token can be allowed. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the allowlist guidance to clarify that edgspelling.preprocess may leave
some CamelCase identifiers, such as getXValue, whole; when such a token is
reported, allowlist the whole token rather than only its parts. Preserve the
existing guidance for identifiers that are split before lookup.

Recognize Markdown table rows without leading pipes.
A valid table can use Name | Description and --- | --- without leading pipes. This classifier ignores those rows, so _check_overlong_lines reports a long table row that cannot be wrapped without changing the table. Detect the delimiter and adjacent rows without requiring a leading |; also cover tables with mixed pipe styles. GitHub Flavored Markdown explicitly permits those styles. (github.github.com)

Update the table-row classifier used by _check_overlong_lines to recognize valid
Markdown tables without requiring leading pipes. Detect delimiter rows and their
adjacent header/data rows with or without leading pipes, including tables that
mix both styles, while preserving the existing handling of pipe-prefixed tables.

Update the aspell skip conditions for ToolAllowlistTests and
SpellingIntegrationTests to use a working-command check, not just shutil.which.
Probe aspell with the same kind of invocation the checker requires, and skip the
spelling tests when that probe fails so a failed probe does not lead to tests
receiving None.

Summary
Allowlist model and entries .agents/skills/edg-spelling-allowlist/SKILL.md, AGENTS.md, dev_tools/pylibs/edgspelling/*, dev_tools/spelling_allowlist.json
Adds allowlist loading, validation, inherited path-specific word and name lookup, and identifier preprocessing. Adds the shipped allowlist and instructions for maintaining it.
Checker behavior and validation dev_tools/bin/edg-check-file-changes, dev_tools/tests/test_edg_check_file_changes.py, dev_tools/tests/test_edg_collect_changes.py, dev_tools/tests/tool_tree.py, dev_tools/typecheck-python.sh
Applies preprocessing and path-based allowlist filtering to spelling checks. Adds line-length exemptions for data files and recognized Markdown and reStructuredText structures, with tests and typechecking support.
Pre-push and CI integration .git-hooks/pre-push.py, dev_tools/pylibs/edgshell/__init__.py, .github/workflows/*, dev_tools/tests/test_edg_check_file_changes.py
Detects binary files in Git diffs and skips them in pre-push checks. Extends workflow path filters for the spelling library and allowlist.
Spelling corrections in repository text dev_tools/bin/edgy, dev_tools/pylibs/edgacknowledg/*, dev_tools/pylibs/edgutil/__init__.py, dev_tools/services/acknowledg-forge/tests/*, doc/source/*, include_c++/Changes, lib_src/eh.h, src/*, util/Changes
Corrects spelling and wording in comments, docstrings, tests, documentation, and historical change logs. Executable behavior is unchanged.
