A lightweight security layer designed to protect LLM applications from prompt injection and jailbreak attempts. The firewall analyzes incoming prompts before they reach the model, assigns a risk score, and can allow, flag, or block suspicious requests.
It includes a FastAPI backend, a machine-learning detection pipeline, SQLite-based scan logging, and a React/TypeScript dashboard for monitoring security activity.
The firewall sits between the user and an LLM application:
The system combines machine-learning classification with rule-based pattern detection to identify suspicious prompts and provide a risk assessment before they reach the LLM.
- Real-Time Prompt Scanning : analyzes a prompt and returns a risk score and security verdict.
- Hybrid Detection : combines a TF-IDF + Logistic Regression classifier with regex-based security rules.
- Prompt Injection Detection : identifies common attempts to override instructions or manipulate model behavior.
- Risk-Based Decisions : prompts crossing the configured risk threshold are flagged as malicious.
- Scan History: It stores scanned prompts, scores, and verdicts using SQLite.
- Security Dashboard : displays total scans, blocked requests, block rate, and recent activity.
- REST API : exposes the detection system through FastAPI endpoints.
- Local & Lightweight : uses SQLite instead of requiring a separate database server, making the project easy to run locally.
- TF-IDF converts the incoming prompt into numerical word and bigram features.
- Logistic Regression analyzes these features and estimates how likely the prompt is to represent an attack.
- Regex-based checks identify known suspicious patterns and add an additional risk signal.
- The detection signals are combined into a risk score.
- Prompts scoring ≥ 0.5 are classified as malicious.
