Summary

Migrates the DSSI/LADSPA host opcodes from the Csound 7 core (Opcodes/dssi4cs) into the plugins tree, and fixes the py opcodes for Csound 7.

DSSI/LADSPA opcodes (7.x/src/dssi4cs)

  • dssiinit, dssiactivate, dssiaudio, dssisynth, dssictls, dssiget, dssinote, dssievent, dssinrpn, dssiprogram, dssiconfigure, dssiprograminfo, dssiinfo, dssilist.
  • Uses the plugin LINKAGE macro for the opcode table (was LINKAGE_BUILTIN).
  • New BUILD_DSSI_OPCODES option: Linux-only, requires the system ALSA headers (libasound2-dev on Debian/Ubuntu), silently disabled elsewhere or when the headers are missing.
  • Vendored DSSI 1.1.1 and LADSPA 1.17 API headers under include/dssi and include/ladspa, with licenses, SOURCE.json provenance and update.py sync scripts.
  • Registered in 7.x/CMakeLists.txt, documented in the 7.x README, added to the Linux CI build/staging step and disabled in the CUDA job; vendored headers excluded from CodeRabbit review.

py opcodes fix

  • MYFLT is no longer a public Csound 7 type. Switched the python opcode sources and the pycall/pyx generators and generated headers to cs_float.

Notes

  • This is a move; the corresponding Opcodes/dssi4cs, third_party/{dssi,ladspa} and BUILD_DSSI_OPCODES should be removed from the csound core repo in a separate PR.
  • The DSSI plugin was verified to configure/link locally; a real runtime exercise requires a Linux host with DSSI synths installed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added Linux support for hosting DSSI and LADSPA plugins, including opcodes for loading and listing plugins, rendering audio, handling MIDI and notes, and managing controls and programs.
    • Linux release packages now include the DSSI/LADSPA hosting plugin. The feature is enabled by default when the required Linux audio headers are available.
  • Documentation
    • Added build and usage guidance, including plugin lookup paths, supported operations, and usage limits.

MYFLT is no longer a public Csound 7 type. Update the python opcode
sources and the pycall/pyx generators and generated headers to use
cs_float, so the py plugin builds against the Csound 7 SDK.
Migrate the dssi4cs opcodes (dssiinit, dssiactivate, dssiaudio,
dssisynth, dssictls, dssiget, dssinote, dssievent, dssinrpn,
dssiprogram, dssiconfigure, dssiprograminfo, dssiinfo, dssilist) from
the Csound 7 core (Opcodes/dssi4cs) into the plugins tree.

- Use the plugin LINKAGE macro for the opcode table.
- Add a CMake build (BUILD_DSSI_OPCODES): Linux-only, needs the system
ALSA headers, silently disabled elsewhere or when they are missing.
- Vendor the DSSI 1.1.1 and LADSPA 1.17 API headers under include/,
with their licenses, provenance and update scripts.
- Register the plugin, document it in the 7.x README, exclude the
vendored headers from CodeRabbit review, and stage the plugin in the
  Linux CI job.

📝 Walkthrough

The PR adds a Linux DSSI/LADSPA hosting plugin with build, release, and documentation updates. It also changes Python opcode numeric fields and argument arrays from MYFLT to cs_float.

The new Linux DSSI/LADSPA host is opt-in by platform and builds only when ALSA headers are present. Passing a non-audio variable to dssiaudio or dssisynth can feed garbage samples to the plugin and read beyond that variable's memory. On multiarch distributions, installed plugins are not found unless DSSI_PATH or LADSPA_PATH is set. Both are small fixes and reasonable to make before or shortly after merge.

Fix the misplaced semicolon in the generated oresult field.

Line 177 emits ' cs_float oresult\n;'. The newline comes before the semicolon. The generated PYCALL1T in 7.x/src/py/src/pycall.auto.h Lines 49-50 shows the result: oresult on one line and ;} PYCALL1T; on the next. The C code still compiles, but the output is malformed. This bug existed before the PR, and the edited line keeps it. Fix it while this line is being changed.

The pycall generator emitted the terminating semicolon after the newline,
producing a malformed 'cs_float oresult\n;}' in the generated struct.
Move the semicolon before the newline and update the generated header to
match the generator output.
Two issues inherited from the migrated upstream sources:

- dssiaudio/dssisynth declared their audio inputs with the 'M' vararg
type, which also accepts i-rate and k-rate arguments. The opcode
always reads ksmps samples from each input, so an i- or k-rate
argument led to out-of-bounds reads. Use 'y' (a-rate only) instead.
- DSSI4CS_DEFAULT_PATH omitted the multiarch library directories used
on Debian/Ubuntu, so plugins installed under /usr/lib/<triplet>/dssi
and /usr/lib/<triplet>/ladspa were not found unless DSSI_PATH or
LADSPA_PATH was set. The build now prepends the detected
  CMAKE_LIBRARY_ARCHITECTURE directory.
