Prepares release v2.3.1. Full details in RELEASE_NOTES_2.3.1.md and CHANGELOG.md. Three commits:
feat(oid4vc): bind holder credentials to an existing DID; upgrade Credo to 0.7.4
POST /openid4vc/holder/request-credential accepts optional holderDidUrl (a verification method, or a DID to use its first authentication key) and bindingPolicy (require by default, or prefer). Credentials can then be bound to a DID the tenant already controls, such as an organisation's did:web, instead of a new did:jwk / did:key per credential. Without holderDidUrl nothing changes.
The binding is checked against the offer's metadata before the token request, so a binding that will fail does not use up the pre-authorized code and transaction code. With require the 400 names the configuration the issuer cannot bind.
credentialsToRequest is now honoured (every offered configuration was requested before); ids not in the offer return 400.
Credo 0.7.0 → 0.7.4 for all @credo-ts/* packages and resolutions. The storage version is unchanged (0.5), so there is no migration. Patches regenerated for 0.7.4.
fix(oid4vc): check jwt proof requirements before the token request (review)
The pre-check now also covers each configuration's proof_types_supported (jwt proof, no key attestations, an algorithm the holder key supports).
A malformed holderDidUrl returns 400.
/agent/credential/verify accepts trustedIssuers as a list of issuer DIDs.
For reviewers
Version number. New optional request fields would strictly be a minor bump. 2.3.1 is proposed because they fix holder binding and nothing breaks.
Behaviour change. A client that sent a subset in credentialsToRequest now receives only that subset.
OpenAPI schema renames. Credo 0.7.4 renames proof schemas behind /agent/credential/verify, e.g. DataIntegrityProof → AnonCredsW3cCredentialProof. Paths and request/response shapes are unchanged, but clients generated from swagger.json see new type names.
trustedIssuers on verify. It is new in Credo 0.7.4's verify options. SafeW3cJsonLdVerifyCredentialOptions exposes the list form ({ method: 'did', issuance }[]); Credo's callback form, which tsoa cannot model, is left out.
Remaining Dependabot alerts have no upstream fix: elliptic (low), dev-only extract-zip, ngrok and deepmerge.
Known issues are listed in the release notes:
DCQL ldp_vctype_values must be expanded IRIs.
ldp_vccredentialSubject.id is the holder's verification method URL.
A relative kid comes from DID documents with relative ids.
Verification
yarn check-types, yarn lint (0 errors), yarn check-format, yarn compile and yarn test (3 suites, 46 tests) pass. docker build succeeds, and the image reports 2.3.1 with Credo 0.7.4.
End to end against local multi-tenant Postgres wallets:
Existing 0.6.2 / 2.3.0 wallets open without migration.
An SD-JWT received with holderDidUrl has cnf.kid set to the tenant's did:web…#key-1. The issuer resolved the did:web to verify the proof.
With require, a mixed dc+sd-jwt + ldp_vc offer (ldp_vc limited to did:key) is rejected before the token request, and the same offer then succeeds for the SD-JWT alone.
With prefer, the ldp_vc falls back to a new did:key.
A dc+sd-jwt + ldp_vc credential issued between two tenants was presented back over OID4VP/DCQL with the result ResponseVerified.
After merge: tag v2.3.1.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Credential requests can specify a holder DID and choose whether DID binding is required or preferred. With the preferred policy, requests can fall back to a new key if the issuer does not support the supplied DID.
You can request selected credentials from an offer; omitting the selection requests all offered credentials.
Credential verification can specify trusted issuer DIDs.
Bug Fixes
Requests for credentials not included in an offer are rejected before token redemption.
Holder DID compatibility is checked before token redemption when a holder DID is provided.
Improved handling of credential proofs and forwarded messages.
Documentation
Updated API documentation to describe credential request options and validation.
…do to 0.7.4
request-credential always bound a received credential to a new key
(did:jwk, did:key or jwk), so a holder could not receive credentials
bound to a DID it already controls, such as an organisation's did:web.
- request-credential accepts optional holderDidUrl (a verification
method, or a DID to use its first authentication key) and
bindingPolicy (require by default, or prefer). The resolver binds to
that key after checking the format, the jwt proof type, the issuer's
DID methods and the key's signature algorithms; prefer falls back to
a new key. Without holderDidUrl nothing changes.
- The holder DID is checked against the offer's metadata before the
token request, so a binding that will fail does not use up the
pre-authorized code and transaction code.
- credentialsToRequest is now honoured; ids not in the offer return 400.
- Credo 0.7.0 -> 0.7.4 for all @credo-ts packages and resolutions; the
storage version is unchanged (0.5). Patches regenerated for 0.7.4;
the core patch drops the document loader exports Credo now provides.
- SafeW3cJsonLdVerifyCredentialOptions omits trustedIssuers, which 0.7.4
allows to be a callback that tsoa cannot model.
- Unit tests for the binding resolver and requestCredential.

Walkthrough
This release adds optional credential selection and holder-DID binding to credential requests. It updates Credo dependencies and compatibility patches, changes verification and OpenAPI schemas, and adds version 2.3.1 release documentation.
Changes: Credential requests and release
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Credential selection and request integration src/controllers/openid4vc/types/holder.types.ts, src/controllers/openid4vc/holder/holder.service.ts, src/controllers/openid4vc/holder/__tests__/holder.service.test.ts, src/routes/routes.ts, src/routes/swagger.json
Credential selection is optional and defaults to all offered configurations. The service rejects IDs absent from the offer and passes holder DID and binding-policy options into credential requests.
Holder-DID resolution and validation src/controllers/openid4vc/holder/credentialBindingResolver.ts, src/controllers/openid4vc/holder/__tests__/credentialBindingResolver.test.ts
The resolver validates holder DIDs against wallet keys and issuer support. require rejects unsupported bindings; prefer falls back to new-key binding for unsupported-binding errors.
Credo dependencies and patches move to 0.7.4. The changes update credential and DIDComm compatibility, package exports, and W3C proof and verification schemas.
Version and release documentation package.json, CHANGELOG.md, RELEASE_NOTES_2.3.1.md
The package version changes to 2.3.1. The release documentation describes request behavior, dependency and security updates, verification results, and known issues.

Addresses review on #466:
- The pre-check for a holder DID now also checks each configuration's
proof_types_supported: a jwt proof without key attestations, signed
with an algorithm the holder key supports. Before, these were checked
only by the binding resolver, after the pre-authorized code had been
redeemed. Configurations without proof_types_supported are skipped.
- A malformed holderDidUrl returns 400 instead of 500.
- SafeW3cJsonLdVerifyCredentialOptions exposes trustedIssuers as a list
of { method: 'did', issuance } (only Credo's callback form is left
out), so /agent/credential/verify can restrict accepted issuer DIDs.
- Tests for the new checks; CHANGELOG and release notes updated.
Signed-off-by: Ajay Jadhav <ajay@ayanworks.com>
Addresses the second review on #466:
- assertJwtProofAllowed rejects issuer metadata whose jwt proof type
lists no proof_signing_alg_values_supported with a binding error,
instead of failing with a TypeError. Test added.
- CHANGELOG and release notes: the pre-token rejection applies only to
bindingPolicy require (prefer falls back to a new key), and
trustedIssuers is documented with its { method, issuance } shape.
