Motivation

Provide an informational report of the repository's total lines of code computed from tracked files using git ls-files.

Description

Add a single-line reports/loc.txt containing "Total lines (git ls-files, newline count): 242989" with the computed LOC value.

Testing

No automated tests were run for this informational change.
