Verdict: Request changes
This grouped all-npm dependabot bump folds three breaking major-version upgrades (cdk-nag 2→3, TypeScript 6→7, commander 14→15, plus js-yaml 4→5 in cdk) into a single PR with no accompanying code migration. CI build (agentcore) is red and the failures are structural, not flaky. This must not merge as-is.
Vision alignment
Keeping dependencies current supports the bounded, improvable control plane tenet, and routine dependabot bumps do not require a backing issue (expected by design — ADR-003 governance gate is satisfied for bot PRs). But merging a red build that breaks the CDK control-plane synth directly undercuts control-plane reliability. The intent is fine; the execution is broken.
Blocking issues

cdk-nag major bump 2.38.2 → 3.0.2 breaks the entire CDK compile (
cdk/package.jsondependencies). cdk-nag v3 removed/relocated theNagSuppressionsexport and changed theAwsSolutionsChecksaspect contract. The build fails with ~30TS2305: Module '"cdk-nag"' has no exported member 'NagSuppressions'errors acrosscdk/src/constructs/*.tsandcdk/src/stacks/agent.ts, plussrc/main.ts(66,23) TS2741: Property 'visit' is missing in type 'AwsSolutionsChecks' but required in type 'IAspect'. A major cdk-nag bump requires a code migration PR of its own; it cannot ride in a grouped bump. Fix: split cdk-nag out and migrate the import/aspect usage, or hold it back (add to dependabotignorefor major) until migrated. -
TypeScript major bump 6.0.3 → 7.0.2 is not supported by the toolchain (
cdk/package.json,cli/package.json,docs/package.json— all bumped to^7.0.2). The build fails with//cli:eslint→Error: typescript-eslint does not support TS 7.0and//:check:types-sync→TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'Latest'). The pinned typescript-eslint / ts version-detection tooling has not caught up to the TS 7 (Go-port) release. Fix: hold TypeScript at 6.x until typescript-eslint and the repo's toolchain declare TS 7 support; split it out of the group. -
Lockfile / resolution inconsistency for js-yaml (
cdk/package.jsonbumps js-yaml to^5.4.1, rootpackage.jsonstill pinsresolutions["js-yaml"] = "^4.3.2"). The committedyarn.lockcollapsesjs-yaml@^3.13.1, ^4.1.1, ^4.3.0, ^5.4.1onto a single entry resolved to5.4.1, which does not satisfy the^3/^4consumers and directly contradicts the still-present^4.3.2root resolution. A frozen install today masks this, but the manifest and the resolution now disagree; the next re-resolve will flip js-yaml back to 4.x (or error), silently reverting the cdk bump. Fix: if js-yaml 5 is intended, bump the rootresolutionsentry in the same PR (and re-lock); otherwise revert the cdk js-yaml bump to keep it within^4.
Non-blocking suggestions / nits
- commander 14 → 15 (major) in
cli/package.jsonis another breaking bump bundled here; it happens to compile but should be validated against thebgagentCLI arg-parsing (option/argsbehavior changes across commander majors) once the blocking failures are resolved. - Grouping policy: majors (cdk-nag, typescript, commander) should be excluded from the grouped
all-npmbump or split into individual PRs so a single breaking upgrade cannot block ~46 otherwise-safe SDK patch bumps. Consider a dependabot configignore/update-typestweak so majors arrive as standalone reviewable PRs. - The bulk of the diff (
@aws-sdk/*3.1078→3.1127 patch/minor bumps, astro 7.2.8→7.3.1, starlight 0.41→0.42, knip 6.23→6.34, eslint-plugin-jsdoc 63→64, @aws-cdk/integ-runner 2.202→2.205) is low-risk and would be mergeable on its own.
Documentation
No docs changes required or expected for a dependency bump; no Starlight mirror impact. AGENTS.md tech-stack line still reads “TypeScript 6.x” — consistent with holding TS at 6, and a reason not to jump to 7 in a silent bump.
