Autohand Code now connects to the running Squad app without installing a separate MCP server. /squad selects a desktop agent, /message sends through its durable conversation queue, and history/queue commands show replies and delivery state. Explicit /message team preserves local CLI teammate messaging.

The built-in operator MCP exposes 37 tools using the canonical Squad runtime: agent profile/personality edits, ability policies, extra project folders, skill selection, channels/private groups, membership and threaded messages, routine preview/create/edit/pause/resume/manual runs, plus messaging and Library reads. Squad PR autohandai/squad#52 adds the corresponding bridge support. Saved edits use revisions and apply to later work; group replies persist after client disconnect; routines require an explicit timezone and default to disabled. Managed members never receive this operator connection.

Validation:

  • Typecheck, focused unit tests (13), build, and real Tuistory in standard/fullscreen layouts pass.
  • Both terminal layouts also pass against the compiled macOS ARM64 binary, including self-launch and discovery/calling the new profile tool through the normal MCP path.
  • Canonical Squad bridge check: 225 assertions; no real agent messaging/configuration or app lifecycle actions.
  • Required AUTOHAND_TEST_WORKERS=1 AUTOHAND_TUISTORY_WORKERS=2 bun run proof completed: lint/typecheck and 965 unit files pass (13,787 tests; 80 skipped). Full terminal run: 108 files pass, two fail (527 tests pass, nine fail, two skipped). Console connector sync failed at toolsListed > 0, previously reproduced on unchanged base. Extensions had one exit-code failure and seven explicit ENOSPC fixture-creation failures. After removing an obsolete generated binary, all 12 extension tests pass on a focused rerun. The local full aggregate is not green.
  • All 24 reported CI jobs on implementation commit 3478d59a passed, including all four terminal shards and Windows terminal checks; optional manual proof job skipped. The final source-pin/validation-record commit only updates documentation.
  • Generated binaries and isolated Squad test dependencies were removed after verification because the machine ran critically low on disk space. Logs/protocol evidence are retained under .artifacts/squad-mcp/.

Documentation includes command/tool reference, attribution/pinned source, ADR and changelog. No release is published; remote main remains subject to required review.

Connect the CLI's agent picker and message commands to Squad's durable conversation queues. Bundle the operator MCP with runtime-only registration and preserve managed-member boundaries, local-team routing and standalone app commands.
