📦 cpp-archive

An archive of my early C++ learning journey — core language and OOP fundamentals, pattern-printing practice, and small applied console projects, written 2–3 years ago while learning C++. Kept here as a record of the fundamentals I built early on.

📑 Table of Contents

📖 Overview

This repository is a snapshot of the C++ concepts and small programs I wrote while first learning the language — object-oriented programming fundamentals, classic pattern-printing exercises, and a handful of applied console projects. It's organized by topic so any concept is easy to find and revisit, and it's kept as-is (not actively maintained) as a personal record of early progress.

🗂 What's Inside

Cpp-Codes/ — Fundamentals & OOP Concepts

Small, focused, single-concept files covering core C++ and object-oriented programming topics:

Folder Covers
Cpp-Constructors/ Default, parameterized, copy, and overloaded constructors; initialization lists; runtime construction
Cpp-Destructors/ Destructor behavior
Cpp-Inheritence/ Single/multi-level inheritance, inheritance tasks
Cpp-Virtual-Functions/ Virtual functions, pure virtual functions, virtual function loops
Cpp-Pointers/ Pointers, pointer arrays, call by value/reference, new/delete, object pointers, pointers to derived classes, this pointer
Cpp-Friend-Classes/ Friend class relationships
Cpp-Functions/ Function overloading & overriding, inline/default/const functions, passing objects to functions, function nesting
Cpp-Operator-Overloading/ Operator overloading
Cpp-Templates/ Template functions, class templates, template parameters
Cpp-Vectors/ std::vector usage examples
Cpp-Lists/ List-based examples
Cpp-Exceptional-Handeling/ Exception handling (try/catch)
Cpp-Static-Data-Members/ Static data members
Cpp-Struct-Union-Enum/ Structs, unions, and enums
Cpp-Public-Protected-Private-Classes/ Access specifiers
Cpp-Ambiguity/ Resolving ambiguity in multiple inheritance
Cpp-Recursion/ Recursive functions
Cpp-Tasks/ Standalone practice tasks (8 files) applying the above concepts, including a password-masking exercise

patterns/ — Pattern Printing Practice

Classic beginner pattern-printing exercises using nested loops — Pascal's Triangle and seven numbered star/number pattern variations (Pattern1.cpp through pattern7.cpp).

projects/ — Small Applied Console Projects

Single-file console programs applying the concepts above to small, self-contained problems:

File Description
Real_Estate_Uni_Project.cpp A university assignment simulating a real estate management system
bank_program.cpp / bank_system_program.cpp Early bank account simulations
casino_game.cpp A simple casino/gambling simulation game
credit_card_checker.cpp Credit card number validation logic
quiz_game.cpp / quiz_game_2D_array.cpp Console quiz games, including a 2D-array-based variant
rock_paper_scissors.cpp Classic Rock-Paper-Scissors game
stop_watch.cpp A console stopwatch
student_management.cpp Basic student record management
tick_tack_toe.cpp Tic-Tac-Toe game

Note: bank_program.cpp / bank_system_program.cpp and student_management.cpp were early, much smaller drafts of ideas later rebuilt properly as full standalone projects — see bank-cli and inventory-cli for the fully developed versions.

✅ Prerequisites

Just a working C++ compiler:

  • g++ (via MinGW-w64 on Windows, or pre-installed on most Linux distros/macOS), or
  • Any IDE with a bundled compiler (Visual Studio, Code::Blocks, Dev-C++, etc.)

You'll also need Git if you want to clone the repo (or just download the ZIP from GitHub instead).

🚀 Getting Started

1. Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/abmdevx/cpp-archive.git
cd cpp-archive

2. Compile & run any file

Every .cpp file here is self-contained — compile the one you want to explore:

g++ Cpp-Codes/Cpp-Inheritence/inheritence_01.cpp -o output
./output          # Linux/macOS
output.exe        # Windows

Swap in the path to whichever file interests you — no build system or external dependencies required.

📝 A Note on This Code

This code was written early in my C++ learning journey (roughly 2–3 years ago) and reflects that stage of my skills — it's kept here as-is, unedited, as an honest record of progress rather than a polished showcase. For more current, actively maintained C++ projects, see my other repositories such as bank-cli, inventory-cli, and DSA-Repo.
