It would be nice if the server could declare a fallback color to use in 1.15.2 and below, when a component is formatted with rgb colors.
While VB already performs downsampling, sometimes it favors unusual colors (e.g. #FFC0CB gets mapped to gray). Adventure's weighted HSV implementation performs better in that regard, but skipping this altogether would give servers the most control.
Solution Description
Happy to work on this if people agree with the design, I'd just add another field to the json component, something like "vb:color": "green", which would get converted and removed when crossing the 1.16->1.15.2 boundary. I wouldn't touch the crazy §x format.
