Conversation
Reddit lets an author edit a comment for about 3 minutes without marking
it as edited. A bare "r/name" was answered within seconds and then often
extended ("r/trucklodytes makes me so mad..."), leaving a reply that the
final text would never have earned. Phase 1 workers now wait until 4
minutes after the comment was written, then fetch and check it.

Before: a comment that was exactly
r/namegot an auxiliary-bot reply within seconds. Reddit lets authors edit a comment for about 3 minutes without marking it as edited, so it could becomer/trucklodytes makes me so mad...withsame_subreddit_bot's "Yes, that's where we are." under it, as if the bot had ignored the whole-body rule. After: Phase 1 handles a matching comment 4 minutes after it was written, and checks its text as it is then. Auxiliary replies come about 4 minutes later than before.
The matching rule itself was never loose: every version of
subreddit_regexsince 2020 requires the whole body to be the reference, so neither reported comment can have matched in its final form. How:
Phase1Workers.submit()takes anot_beforetimestamp (created_utc + EDIT_GRACE_SECONDS), and a worker waits for it withshutdown.stop_requested_within()before fetching the comment, so shutdown is still immediate. Comments arrive roughly in creation order, so waiting on the oldest never holds back a due one. AGENTS.md and a changelog fragment are updated.Generated by Claude Code
