Full Stack Developer | Python & TypeScript | Evaluation-first AI systems | Leeds, Yorkshire
Looking for full-time work: junior for general software, any non-senior level for AI. Building Sanctuary, the Offshore Property Map and The Kicker in the meantime.
Career changer. Former Cricketer, Commercial Diver, Financial Paraplanner, then during covid - two years as a DWP Work Coach helping young people into their dream careers. After a while, I realised my own dream career was quite literally staring at me in the face through a computer screen. Have always been a nerd at heart, however too scared to really go for it and took the safe choices.
I only took the plunge into software from a standing start in early 2022. Learning around my job and building things. After that, I took a cloud and data engineering bootcamp, worked 18 months as an apprentice developer at a HubSpot agency. Since December 2024 I've been building on my own under AiTomatic: solo, self-funded (no clients yet) and a lot of shipping.
It's a win win as I never got into software for the paycheck, rather helping people at scale and utilise my creative thinking. Money is important in life of course, just if it means I earn less and love what I do, then that's all that matters to me. Life is about the journey after all.
I'm always aiming to learn and improve my code and fundamentals, as this is the only part of software that doesn't change every few years, and whatever I am learning I build a side project alongside it. Some of these projects have really kicked on since, and allow me to continue learning in that specific area over time.
What I build -- RAG pipelines, multi-agent tooling, local AI systems, full stack web applications and my passion project Sanctuary, a fully private on-device iOS app for neurodiverse users, built from lived experience.
I think software should give people time back, not take it from them. Most of what I build is aimed at that, making tech adapt to humans and not the other way around 🤗
The personal site is what I build when nobody is paying. The commercial site is the paid work. The second one is smaller, and that's the point as employers can see what I have been part of, and what I have built around it. This is honestly more than just a job for me and I am excited for where this career change will lead in the future.
Thanks for your time reading my profile.
