fix: preserve borrowed rows in Solid and Core selection - #2307
Solid useLiveQuery preserves Collection rows and retained mutation snapshots while current results follow updates. Previously, Solid store updates rewrote borrowed nested objects. A retained mutation.original could therefore change and corrupt undo/redo.
Each row now owns detached nested stores. Native Solid stores supply reactivity, and immutable source references let the adapter reuse unchanged nested values. Changed nested containers can replace their proxies. Consumers must read the current nested path reactively. A captured old nested proxy does not follow replacement.
The adapter preserves live nested getters, unchanged element identity, array notifications, and query binding lifetime. It also handles shared acyclic graphs without copying every path separately. The maintainer approved these getter, graph, and proxy policies. Cyclic support remains a separate decision.
Review extended these guarantees to tracked callable fields and inherited array methods. A small read facade preserves getter and method behavior when user data shadows hasOwnProperty. Native data nodes supply notifications for callable and reserved fields. Canonical backing-node memo keys preserve unchanged children across ordinary/native parent transitions.
The same borrowed-value investigation exposed Core selection defects. Structured spreads dropped own __proto__ fields and enumerable user symbols. Overlapping projections could mutate source objects or retain fields that an authored replacement omitted. Core now creates own data fields, constructs fresh nested objects, and copies borrowed destination paths before writes.
For example, this projection must leave the source payload unchanged and remove its source-only fields from the selected payload:
Dotted writes preserve unrelated destination fields. Array-length writes update the selected array while preserving the source array. Existing unsafe authored alias-path restrictions remain.
🔬 Oracle Coverage
The coverage map names the primary owners. They are the shared row-snapshot-oracle.ts, Solid row-materialization-oracle.test.tsx, and Core includes-context-transport-oracle.test.ts with its public-field-oracle.ts companion.
Law: Preserve borrowed Collection values, retained mutation snapshots, and current reactive results. Construct selected output without changing source rows. Public immutable-update, original/previous-value, framework-result, and select contracts supply authority.
Reach: Snapshot coverage contains 828 history slots across 45 groups. Solid has 178 materialization histories, three graph calibrations, and twelve helper visibility histories. Core has 60 source-field cells and 36 overlap cells across four paths. Fourteen real framework groups exercise thirty overlap cells each. Every receiving group guards its own reach.
RED: Extended owners failed before each production repair, including every required real framework receiving path. Controlled corruption also exposed missing current-source and reordered-tail comparisons.
GREEN: The integrated tree passes all 333 Solid tests and 248 targeted Core tests without type errors. Snapshot and destination groups pass across all six adapters. The wider Core selection neighborhood passes 325 tests. Builds, changed-file lint, and diff checks pass.
Mutant: Original implementations and narrow wrong repairs fail. Controls distinguish source mutation, retained extra fields, ignored array-length writes, stale callable values, native identity loss, and reordered-tail corruption. The record separates assertion failures from host runtime failures.
Limits: Finite histories and synchronous Core or settled/held-handler framework cuts. This evidence excludes arbitrary cycles, accessor bodies, complete descriptor fidelity, callback atomicity, other settlement schedules, and native browser rendering.
The second review record preserves all fifteen items, exact code hashes, receiving counts, RED/GREEN chronology, mutant classifications, and limits. We repaired eleven items. One duplicates a repaired finding, one preserves a historical process qualification, and two retain accepted boundaries. The earlier record preserves the initial review and native-store decision.
React registers its derived-identity API twice, including a legacy dependency-list label. These registrations supply no DbClient receiving evidence. Local-only histories retain actual mutation originals and compare every admitted field. Core drafts exclude top-level symbol writes under the existing Drafts/#1820 boundary.
The helper visibility histories test an internal invariant. Core normalizes root descriptors before public hook admission, so they supply no public descriptor-admission promise.
Full Core source typechecking also passes after the CI callback-typing correction. Targeted runtime selection alone does not start Vitest's type-test worker.
Full repository pnpm test run. CI supplies broader repository checks.
Native Solid proxy assignment through Core drafts remains a separate support-policy boundary. Main repaired the separate lifecycle publication issue #2310 through #2313. This PR preserves that lifecycle model and its expectations.
🚀 Release Impact
Published code changes: patch changeset for @tanstack/solid-db and @tanstack/db.
Docs/CI/dev-only change.
The Solid helper has 192 lines, compared with 330 before the native-store redesign. The final correctness repairs add 264 gzip bytes over the reviewed native-store cut in the same isolated hook measurement. The final hook uses 2,296 gzip bytes with dependencies external. These measurements describe neither release-package size nor application timing.
Detach mutable containers before Solid store admission and reconciliation.
Preserve borrowed rows, historical mutation payloads, supported methods,
and explicit undefined fields. Extend the shared framework conformance owner.
Law: Framework materialization preserves Collection rows, mutation.original,
and previousValue while current results follow the source. Authority:
immutable updates, PendingMutation.original, ChangeMessage.previousValue,
and the shared framework result contract.
Reach: 42 histories per common driver, 48 for Solid, and 24 additional
local-only histories. Each input/write path asserts its own reach.
RED: The shared Solid row-snapshot command failed all six input/write groups
before the initial repair. Expanded prep coverage also failed all three
local-only groups before the follow-up repair.
pnpm --filter @tanstack/solid-db exec vitest run tests/conformance.test.tsx
-t 'row-snapshot-isolation|local-only row snapshots'
--coverage.enabled=false --maxWorkers=2
GREEN: The same command passes. Full Solid tests (138), other framework
conformance files (578), and DB checker calibrations (11) pass: 727 tests.
Final row grammar was rechecked in all six adapters. Types and lint pass.
Mutant: Eight hostile implementations fail the shared comparison, including
the original code, initial-only/update-only copies, shared aliases, lost
array prototypes, retained getters, and absent/root-only undefined repair.
Limits: One key, three updates, declared value/source profiles, and held or
settled framework cuts. Cyclic updates, hidden symbols, arbitrary getters,
Core host-proxy assignment policy, and browser rendering remain outside this
claim. Detailed evidence and loss accounting are in the versioned review
record under docs/contributing/oracle-reviews/.

Summary
Materialize and update Solid rows packages/solid-db/src/store-materialization.ts, packages/solid-db/src/useLiveQuery.ts, packages/solid-db/tests/*
createRowStore detaches supported row containers and updates or replaces Solid stores. Solid tests cover row identity, shape changes, getters, arrays, and shared graphs.
Shared snapshot oracle and conformance histories packages/db/tests/conformance/*, packages/db/tests/utils.ts, packages/{angular,preact,react,svelte,vue}-db/tests/*, packages/solid-db/tests/conformance.test.tsx
The shared oracle checks current rows, retained values, and mutation originals across bounded histories. The conformance suite and framework drivers add snapshot scenarios and support full-row updates. Calibration tests cover comparison behavior, cleanup, and failure reporting.
Preserve fields through query selection packages/db/src/query/compiler/select.ts, packages/db/tests/conformance/public-field-oracle.ts, packages/db/tests/query/includes-context-transport-oracle.test.ts
Query merges copy enumerable own string and symbol fields and initialize nested destinations based on own-property checks. Public-field histories exercise selection forms, destinations, and field admission stages.

Explanation
Issue #2305 requires Solid useLiveQuery updates to preserve retained Collection rows and nested mutation snapshots. useLiveQuery now uses createRowStore, which detaches nested containers and updates the detached store instead of the source value. The added Solid materialization and conformance histories check retained rows, nested values, and update behavior.
Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "fix: preserve borrowed rows in Solid and Core selection" is specific and matches the main change. The PR keeps Collection rows and retained mutation originals intact in Solid useLiveQuery, and it fixes Core selection so source objects are not mutated. The title does not name the Solid-only native-store design, but it does not misstate the change, so it passes.

Each row aggregates the 14.4 scale/index/write-mode configurations of that query; per-configuration tables below.
Runner: node v24.8.0, linux 7.0.0-1017-azure, AMD EPYC 7763 64-Core Processor. Timings on shared CI runners are noisy; treat small deltas as indicative only.
syncDataFromCollection still scans every entry, but the new callback also deep-copies and traverses every retained row. An unrelated single-row change can therefore add work proportional to the total row data size instead of only the changed rows.
Collection.entries() returns a cached enriched row. Its cache invalidates when row data or virtual metadata changes, so the reference check does not skip required updates. Collection replacement also clears rowsByKey.

the maintainer chose live getters and efficient shared acyclic graphs.
Reach: Every shared receiving input/write group asserts 16 common or 18 Solid

48 identity/lifetime/reorder/resize, 24 getter, and 13 graph histories.
RED: Extended actual-host oracle failed before each production repair.
The reviewed materializer failed 34/48 early histories and 3/10 graph cases.
Independent extensions exposed getter removal, hidden fields, crossed graphs,
and 12 array-resize failures before their repairs.
GREEN: Solid 223 tests, all six adapters' snapshot receiving groups, and 13
calibrations pass. Typecheck, ESLint, lint:changed, formatting, and build pass.
Mutant: Source tracking, frozen getters, shared cross-row caches, unprotected
reused nodes, missing hidden fields, unprepared graph replacements and premature
array-index admission are rejected. Getter-removal mutant throws after setup.
Limits: Finite histories and settled/held-handler cuts. Cyclic support remains
a separate maintainer decision. No Core normalization or wall-clock SLO claim.
Keep detached nested stores immutable and memoized per row. Let native Solid stores handle tracking and field replacement. Preserve own enumerable Core source fields and create own nested merge destinations.
Law: borrowed Collection rows and mutation originals remain unchanged; current selected results preserve admitted user fields. Authority: immutable update/original/previousValue contracts, framework result contract, live-query source-field contract, and explicit live-getter/native-store/acyclic maintainer decisions.
Reach: 828 shared snapshot history slots across 45 groups, 85 Solid materialization histories, 60 Core public-field histories with 1200 path/stage observations, and 168 additional actual framework destination histories. Existing 819 Core observations and work budgets remain.
RED: extended owners failed unchanged native predecessor and Core merge logic. Corrected actual nested-destination gate failed 12 cells and all six real host callback/config paths before the final destination fix. Earlier literal-dotted driver mismatch receives no deep-path credit.
GREEN: complete Solid 228 tests, Core/query neighborhood 344 tests, all six adapters' snapshot and destination groups, no type errors; build, ESLint, formatting, lint:changed and diff checks pass.
Mutant: old root and nested copying reject 4 and 6 cells; string-only copying and ordinary assignment reject 5 each; inherited destination lookup rejects 12. All are intended assertions without type errors, and all temporary edits are restored. Native identity/own-admission and oracle-integrity controls reject their wrong designs.
Limits: finite histories and named host cuts. Cycles, arbitrary getters/descriptors, browser rendering and other settlement schedules remain outside this evidence. Core draft root-symbol writes remain with Drafts/#1820; lifecycle publication trace remains separately tracked in #2310. Versioned review and coverage corrections follow in a documentation commit.

Preserve the nested value while forcing the shape update.
When an existing root property keeps the same nested container but changes only enumerability, current[key] === value is false because current is unwrapped and value is a Solid store proxy. current[key] !== unwrap(value) is also false, so no draft write occurs. The direct Object.defineProperty(current, key, ...) does not notify a reachable Object.keys(row) observer.

Do not promote hidden Solid store symbols during detachment.
When Collection.update detaches an assigned native Solid store, deepClone copies every symbol. defineDataProperty assigns each copied symbol to the new object, which makes it enumerable. The nested spread then copies Symbol(solid-proxy) and Symbol(store-node) into the selected result. The Solid materialization guard does not remove them because detachment already made them enumerable.
Keep enumerable user symbols, but skip non-enumerable symbols during detachment.

The final correctness repairs add 264 gzip bytes over the reviewed native-store cut in the same isolated hook measurement. The final hook uses 2,296 gzip bytes with dependencies external. These measurements describe neither release-package size nor application timing.
Closes #2305.
