Revert script numeric-string sync (#45) until 11.0 - #46
#45 changes the results of Script expressions that run today: &, | and ^ stop converting numeric strings; + - * / reject strings that only start with a number; ! and ~ change too. The full list is in #45. These changes count as breaking, so they ship with MoveIt Pro 11.0 rather than a 10.x release (PickNikRobotics/moveit_pro#24179 is now milestone 11.0.0, breaking-change).
While #45 is the tip of main-picknik, any fork fix packaged for 10.x from main-picknik would carry those changes with it. Reverting keeps main-picknik releasable for 10.x until 11.0.
Brief description
git revert -m 1 4633186f. The resulting tree is identical to 1cc76380 (git diff 1cc76380 HEAD is empty), the commit PickNikRobotics/apt_build_farm packages as 4.9.0-5noble today.
For 11.0, revert this commit to re-land #45, then update PickNikRobotics/apt_build_farm#78 (now a draft) to the new git_sha. Nothing from #45 was packaged or published, so this changes no shipped binary.
How it was tested
git diff 1cc76380 HEAD is empty, so this builds and tests the same source as the shipped 4.9.0-5noble.
Reverts merge 4633186. Its script behavior changes are breaking, so they ship with MoveIt Pro 11.0 instead of a 10.x release. Revert this commit to re-land them for 11.0.
Arithmetic no longer automatically converts string operands to numbers when paired with numeric values.
Logical NOT no longer treats string operands as booleans.
Bitwise complement checks numeric values before converting them to integers.
Floating-point-to-integer conversions now use updated range checks.
The changes update floating-point-to-integer range checks and script operator handling. They also remove tests for numeric boundaries, script operators, and subtree literal-port behavior.
The numeric-string conversion helper and string-specific logical-not conversions are removed. Unary complement checks the value against the int64_t range before casting. Arithmetic selects numeric evaluation when both operands are numbers, or when one is a number and the other can be cast to double. Related parser and subtree tests are removed.
This revert restores the shipped script behavior, so no change reaches released binaries. It also drops the boundary safety checks from #45. Edge-case inputs such as 2^63 doubles or NaN in a complement expression can hit undefined conversions again, and '42' .. 1 yields an empty value. These are narrow cases that the maintainers can accept or follow up on before the 11.0 re-land.

Explanation
The description states the purpose (revert the script numeric-string changes from #45 to keep main-picknik releasable for 10.x until 11.0), the exact command (git revert -m 1 4633186), the expected tree equivalence (git diff 1cc7638 HEAD is empty), and the follow-up steps for 11.0. The template asks for comments in code, API/ABI/back-compatibility or behavioral change considerations, bug-fix unit tests, and linting/clang-tidy steps. The description does not address whether the revert introduces API, ABI, or behavioral changes beyond saying nothing from #45 was shipped, and it does not mention pre-commit, clang-format, or run_clang_tidy.sh. Its testing section is limited to a diff check rather than a build or test run. Those template items are partly or fully missing, but the core content is complete and specific.

Explanation
The PR is scoped to six files in the BehaviorTree.CPP scripting and conversion code, plus related tests. It does not modify authentication, permissions, secrets, CI/CD, infrastructure, deployment configuration, tutorials, launch scripts, or MoveIt Pro behavior packages. It makes no public API or SDK declaration changes and is not a large cross-cutting change across major subsystems.

- Around line 217-220: Handle the concat operator before the are_numbers
selection in the expression-evaluation flow, so string-number concatenation such
as '42' .. 1 returns "421" instead of an empty Any. Preserve the existing
mixed-type arithmetic behavior for non-concat operators.
- Around line 132-133: Update the range validation for rv before the integer
conversion used by the complement operation: reject non-finite values, require
rv to be at least the int64_t minimum and strictly below the rounded upper
boundary of 2^63, and only then cast. Preserve valid values within the int64_t
range.
Review comments at @include/behaviortree_cpp/utils/convert_impl.hpp:
- Line 117: Update the upper-bound check in convertNumber to reject
floating-point values at a rounded-up representation of To’s maximum before
conversion, while allowing equality when To’s maximum is exactly representable
in From. Preserve the existing behavior for values within range and ensure
out-of-range values throw rather than undergo an invalid conversion.
Review comments at @include/behaviortree_cpp/utils/safe_any.hpp:
- Line 262: Update ValidCast to reject floating-point values at a destination
maximum that rounds upward when converted to the source type, before any
floating-to-integer cast occurs. Preserve valid in-range conversions and the
existing round-trip check for other cases.
