NeoPlays/README.md

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hi, I'm Martin

I'm a software engineer at RockLogic GmbH, an Austria-based Ethereum node operator in the Lido Curated Set and the team behind Stereum. My day-to-day lives at the intersection of Ethereum staking infrastructure and DevOps, built on roots in low-level and embedded systems.

๐Ÿš€ What I'm Working On

  • ๐Ÿงฑ Stereum & StereumLabs
I help build and maintain Stereum, the open-source tool for setting up and monitoring Ethereum nodes, and work on StereumLabs. On the side I'm developing a lightweight take on Stereum, focused on simplicity, performance, and managing multiple nodes more efficiently.

  • โ›“๏ธ Validator Operations
Running and keeping Ethereum validators healthy, and doing the reliability work that keeps stake online through hard forks and everything in between.

  • ๐ŸŽ“ Computer Science Degree @ TU Wien
Probably the most time-consuming thing in my life right now is working toward my degree at TU Wien.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Tech I Work With

  • Infra & DevOps: Ansible is my strong suit, alongside Docker, GitHub Actions, nginx, systemd, and Linux/Ubuntu administration & networking.
  • Monitoring & observability: Prometheus, Grafana and exporters like node_exporter are my daily drivers, with some ELK stack in the mix.
  • Ethereum clients: Comfortable across the full range of consensus and execution clients, from Lighthouse, Teku, Prysm, Nimbus, Lodestar and Grandine to Geth, Nethermind, Besu, Reth, Erigon and Ethrex.
  • Languages: Python and JavaScript/Node.js day to day. Go powers a small project of mine, and I picked up Java through my CS coursework at TU Wien.
  • Roots: embedded and low-level programming, as below.

๐Ÿงฐ Background

Before diving deep into Ethereum and distributed systems, I studied Electronics and Technical Computer Science / Informatics at HTL Hollabrunn, where I built a strong foundation in embedded systems development and low-level programming.
From blinking LEDs to Ethereum nodes: what a journey it's been, and there's so much more ahead.

๐ŸŽฒ Some Random Facts

  • ๐ŸŒ’ Dark mode or it didn't happen.
  • ๐ŸŽฎ Sometimes found gaming or tweaking my home setup instead of studying.
  • ๐Ÿชต Collects logs like they're Pokรฉmon.
  • ๐Ÿ’ก Has a perfectly good idea at 2am. Forgets it the next day.
