B.Tech CSE at VIT Chennai Location Open to opportunities Patent co-inventor

01 About: Hello, I'm Hemashree.

Animated terminal: whoami, Hemashree, software engineer. Education: B.Tech Computer Science Engineering at VIT Chennai. Focus: vision, reinforcement learning, embedded, security. Patents: smart walker, sensor-fusion fall-risk prediction (filing in progress). Open to cybersecurity, computer vision, cyber-physical systems, backend and DevOps. Languages: Tamil, English, Hindi, Japanese.

Right now: shipped 3 deep dives on SeatLock, RootLens and TriageIQ; backend and DevOps, concurrency and incident response; learning binary search trees in Java and solving LeetCode daily; starting Pit Wall, an F1 race replay built on real GPS data. Quick facts: co-inventor on a smart walker patent (filing in progress); went to Singapore for NUS Industry 4.0 and SuperAI 2025; 31 dental conditions detected on 13,000+ X-rays; speaks Tamil, English, Hindi and Japanese; Design Lead by night.

02 Philosophy: How I think about problems.

Sense, Decide, Protect: a closed feedback loop. Sense with X-rays, IMUs, load cells, pose estimation and sensors. Decide with YOLOv9, Q-learning, CNNs, risk scoring and fusion. Protect with fall alerts, hazard maps and automated IDS responses.

03 Journey: The road so far.

Timeline: VIT Chennai Aug 2023; research intern May to Jul 2025; Singapore, NUS Industry 4.0, SuperAI and IBM Gen AI Jun 2025; dental X-ray AI with YOLOv9 on 13,000+ images Jul to Sep 2025; patent co-inventor 2025 to 26; backend and DevOps 2026 with SeatLock, RootLens and TriageIQ; now building 4 more projects.

04 Selected work: Things I've built.

Dental Malocclusion Detection: YOLOv9 pipeline detecting 31 dental conditions on 13,000+ X-rays (test mAP@50 38.7%), with per-finding HiResCAM explanations, an FDI tooth chart, a Gradio app and PDF reports.

SeatLock: a ticket-booking backend where thousands of buyers race for one seat and nobody gets double-booked. Three locking strategies, version fencing and a partial unique index; a Kafka payment saga with a transactional outbox; a Redis waiting room. 200 threads race for one seat and exactly one wins; k6 finds zero double-bookings; 2,171 requests per second with fast reject. Java 21, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, k6, Testcontainers.

SeatLock repository

RootLens: an incident-response lab that detects a failing microservice, investigates the cause, decides on a fix within strict limits, rolls back the bad release and verifies recovery, with an audit log of every decision. A real incident went from open to resolved in under 2 minutes; 118 unit tests.

RootLens repository

TriageIQ: an AI support inbox that runs fully on-device. Emails flow through Kafka, a local 3B model classifies them with a safe fallback, RAG over solved tickets drafts a grounded reply, and a human approves every reply before it is sent.

TriageIQ repository

GitLoom: type a GitHub username and it reads the public repos, languages and activity in the browser, then weaves them into a portfolio website in a live studio. Ten templates, one HTML file to host free, no servers or sign-ups. JavaScript, HTML, CSS, GitHub REST API, GitHub Pages.

GitLoom demo: the landing page loom weaves a row for every letter typed, then the studio switches between templates. Click to watch the full 1-minute demo with narration.

Smart Walker (patent, filing in progress): co-invented IoT walker that predicts fall risk using dual IMUs and load cells with sensor fusion; runs standalone on Arduino for under USD 30.

RL Rover for Hazard Detection: a simulated rover that learns to explore a disaster area and discovers hazards through perception, using tabular Q-learning, a lightweight CNN and a 4-way reward ablation.

Smart Grocer: multimodal fresh-produce spoilage detection, item localization and expiry-aware retail inventory management.

More projects: Intrusion Detection and Threat Modeling, a behavioral IDS for a simulated bank; Jarvis, an offline privacy-friendly voice assistant.

05 In progress: Currently building.

Currently building: Pulse, a free status page on GitHub Actions and Pages (step 1 of 5); PortPilot, find and free busy ports (planned); BST Playground, animated binary search trees (planned); Pit Wall, F1 race replays (planned); LeetCode Solutions in Java (daily).

🤫 Things you won't find on my résumé
  • 🏎️ I'm an F1 fan, which is why I'm building a race-replay app on real GPS data.
  • 🎨 I design posters and creatives as Design Lead, so I care how things look, not just how they work.
  • 🗾 I can say よろしくお願いします, and mean it.
  • 🛠️ I'm building PortPilot because a Kafka container once stole my port 9092.
