FAD-0502 application-row slice: the live mixer now displays validated local PNG icons with a Unicode initial fallback, textual playback/mute state, and accessible mixed-volume help. Image search and decode run off the dispatcher with two concurrent loads, cancellation on reference change/detachment, 64-pixel thumbnails, and bitmap disposal. Core and native audio command paths are unchanged.
A header-only PNG exposed a null-codec dereference inside Avalonia.Skia 12.1.2. The decode boundary now contains that failure; the desktop harness checks the fallback and continues controlling the same application. The harness uses host fonts by default, locates the rendered slider, polls asynchronous command results, and retains startup timing and screenshots.
Validation: 109 managed tests (23 UI), two native tests, isolated PipeWire integration, six Python tests, roadmap audit, formatting verification, and whitespace checks pass locally. Rendered GNOME/XWayland checks cover a 37% drag, keyboard to 10%, mute, malformed-icon fallback, disconnect during drag and recovered controls. Normal host-font startup reaches the window in local checks; BUG-00004's original cause remains unknown and open.
Accessibility: icons add no tab stop; application controls retain names, mixed-volume help is available to automation, mute/activity use text, and long names have a tooltip. Screen-reader and wider desktop/scaling qualification remain open. Local trusted artwork only; no telemetry, network or packaging changes.
FAD-0502 remains In progress because output-device rows are pending. Does not close #39. Includes current screenshots, qualification notes and a draft Dev Diary #3; no release or publication is claimed.
