Welcome to StickrScan! This is the totally serious and highly sophisticated tool (read: a script I threw together for personal use) that lets you generate QR code stickers for your collection. Stick 'em, scan 'em, and instantly access market prices, personal notes, and other valuable information about your prized possessions!
StickrScan: Turn your collection into a scannable stock market.
- Feed it a list of URLs (one per line in
links.txt). - Let the script work its magic by generating fancy QR codes.
- Print the codes onto this specific 1-inch label sheet: Amazon Link.
- Stick the QR codes on your items and bask in the glory of your high-tech collection!
StickrScan: The fastest way to flex your collection’s worth.
This script isn't just about making QR codes—it’s about making QR codes that actually align properly on the print sheet! Printers love to introduce tiny misalignments just to keep us humble, so you must configure these settings carefully in the script:
test_mode: Set toTrueto print the first QR code repeatedly for alignment testing (strongly recommended before real printing).- Use the same print settings as the final labels! (No scaling, no borders, actual size).
start_position: Defines which label to start printing on (1-indexed, because we're civilized here).target_margin_x&target_margin_y: Control the margins (shift QR codes left/right and up/down).target_spacing_x&target_spacing_y: Adjust spacing between QR codes to ensure perfect alignment.
🛑 If you skip configuring these, your stickers might print in weird places. You have been warned!
- Install required dependencies:
pip install -r requirements.txt
- Place your URLs in
links.txt. - Run the script:
python generate.py
- Print the generated
qr_print_sheet.pdfonto the sticker sheet.- IMPORTANT: When printing, set scaling to 100% (no scaling) and disable border adjustments.
- Your devious printer might sneak in automatic resizing - don't let it! Ensure you're printing at actual size for proper alignment.
StickrScan: A QR code a day keeps the bad deals away.
Short answer: Anything. StickrScan just turns URLs into QR codes, so if it has a web address, you can slap a code on it. Here are some ideas for how to use it:
- Market Listings (PriceCharting.com) – Link directly to a game’s or card’s market listing page on PriceCharting.com. Scan, check the price, brag (or cry).
- Collection Items (PriceCharting.com) – Link to a specific item's page in your PriceCharting.com collection, where you can view your notes (including grading). If you enter the price you paid, you’ll be able to see that when you're logged in. Great for those "Wait, how much did I spend on this?" moments.
- Storage Organization (PriceCharting.com) – Got a tote filled with SNES games? Create a folder in your PriceCharting collection and link the QR code to it. No more digging through boxes like an archeologist.
- Auction & Sales Pages – If an item doesn’t fit neatly into your collection system, link to a completed eBay listing search or the sales page where you usually check prices.
- Custom Notes – Make a dedicated page in Evernote, Notion, or even a Google Doc for each item and store personal notes, restoration history, or anything else.
And because it’s just a URL in a QR code, the possibilities don’t stop at collectibles:
- Instruction Manuals for Family Members – If your elderly mother can scan a QR code, stick one next to the TV with a link to specific instructions on how to use the remote. Save yourself from another "Why is the screen black?" call.
- Tech Support for Literally Anything – Have a tricky setup? Put a QR code on your modem linking to troubleshooting steps. Label the coffee machine with a QR code to a YouTube tutorial on "How to Descale Your Coffee Maker (For the Love of Caffeine)."
- Creative Uses – Use QR codes for scavenger hunts, Wi-Fi access, inventory tracking, or mysterious messages for future generations. The limit is only your imagination (and how many stickers you can print).
StickrScan: May your QR codes always lead to riches, not 404 errors.
- Hard Acrylic Cases – Stick the QR code on top, out of the way.
- Game Cases (like PS2 or DVD-style cases) – Print the QR code on a small square of paper and slide it under the plastic, ideally above the UPC code.
If you come up with a genius use case I haven’t thought of, let me know. Or don’t—just enjoy your newfound QR code supremacy. 😎
StickrScan: May your stickers be straight and your deals be sweet.
If your printer alignment is being particularly rebellious, tweak target_margin_* and target_spacing_* values tiny amounts at a time until things look perfect.
StickrScan: The only thing worse than misaligned stickers is losing money on your collectibles.
Because I love my collection, and manually looking up market prices every time I need them is for peasants. Now, I just scan a QR code like the futuristic human that I am. If you also enjoy being ahead of your time, give this script a spin!
StickrScan: No more ‘I think it’s worth something’ moments.
This was made for personal use, but if you have suggestions, bugs, or improvements, feel free to submit an issue or pull request. Just don’t expect premium customer service—I’m probably busy generating more stickers. 😎
StickrScan: If you have issues, just pretend it’s a feature.
Now go forth and scan responsibly! Or recklessly. I'm not your dad.
