Why

The landing page (https://learnloop-gules.vercel.app/) is the "demo" link on bogdantruta.com, and it made promises the project doesn't keep:

  • The waitlist was fake. WaitlistModal wrote the visitor's email to their own localStorage, then said "You're on the list. We'll email … when closed beta opens up a spot." Nobody ever received an address, and there is no closed beta. LearnLoop is open source and self-hosted.
  • Several feature claims don't match the code:
    • browser support for "Claude.ai · ChatGPT · Gemini": the extension's content_scripts.matches is only https://claude.ai/*;
    • "Copilot CLI": the MCP wiring targets Copilot Chat in VS Code;
    • "every prompt that scores 9+/10 is auto-deduped into the team wiki": the real rule is library promotion at mean ≥ 7, no dimension < 5, confirmed by a second score, plus wiki learnings that become durable after 3 mentions;
    • "below 7/10 LearnLoop rewrites the prompt": it holds the send and offers Improve / Send as-is / Edit;
    • "mcp-server (4 tools)": there are 5;
    • the VS Code "⌘⇧K scaffold": specced, never built (see PR Audit fixes: revive the API, close the token leak, make self-hosting the default #19);
    • an unsourced "fewer than 25% of developers" statistic.

What changed

  • Hero. The "Closed beta · 2026" pill becomes "Open source · MIT · self-hosted". The waitlist button and modal are replaced by three links: View on GitHub, Self-host it (SELFHOSTING.md) and Watch the 3-min demo (the existing #demo video).
  • Copy. Each claim above is reworded to what the code does.
  • Dead code. Six components that were never rendered are removed: Solution, ScaffoldMock, MCPMock, SkillArcMini, TeamMetricsMini and WikiTreeMini. Two of them advertised the unbuilt scaffold and made-up team metrics.
  • Links. The footer and nav link to GitHub and the MIT licence. REPO_URL lives in primitives.jsx, which loads first.

Only apps/landing-page/components/*.jsx change. No build step was added; the page is still served as static files.

Verification

  • Served apps/landing-page with python3 -m http.server and rendered it in headless Chromium at 1280×2600. The page renders: hero with the three CTAs, Problem and Features sections with the new copy, Demo video, footer links. React and Babel ran without console errors; the only console lines were "Unrecognized feature: 'web-share'" (from the existing YouTube iframe) and a WebGPU notice.
  • grep -rn "localStorage\|waitlist\|ChatGPT\|25%\|9+/10\|⌘⇧K" apps/landing-page → no matches.
  • No other workspace is touched, so CI (typecheck/test/lint/docker/integration) is unaffected.

After merging

  • The learnloop Vercel project deploys main automatically (deployment history shows a production deploy on every merge), so this goes live on merge. Check the preview deployment on this PR first.
  • On bogdantruta.com, the web agent owns the wording of the LearnLoop demo link.

…uct does

The waitlist wrote the visitor's email to their own localStorage and then
told them "We'll email you when closed beta opens up a spot". Nobody ever
received those addresses and there is no beta: LearnLoop is open source and
self-hosted. The hero now links to the repo, SELFHOSTING.md and the demo
video, and the pill says "Open source · MIT · self-hosted".

Copy that did not match the code:
- browser support for ChatGPT and Gemini: the extension only runs on claude.ai
- "Copilot CLI": the MCP wiring targets Copilot Chat in VS Code
- "every prompt that scores 9+/10 is auto-deduped into the wiki": library
  promotion is mean >= 7, no dimension < 5, confirmed by a second score;
  wiki learnings become durable after three mentions
- "below 7/10 LearnLoop rewrites the prompt": it holds the send and offers
  Improve / send as-is / edit
- "mcp-server (4 tools)": there are five
- the VS Code "⌘⇧K scaffold" was specced but never built
- an unsourced "fewer than 25%" statistic

Also removes six components that were never rendered (Solution,
ScaffoldMock, MCPMock, SkillArcMini, TeamMetricsMini, WikiTreeMini); two of
them advertised the unbuilt scaffold and made-up team metrics. Footer and
nav link to GitHub and the licence.
