Type hints vs actual behavior

• Across many files, the type errors all point to the same thing: annotations and helper signatures have drifted from how the code is really being used (callables, return types, indexability, ** params).
• Treating this as a “shape alignment” problem between types and data/objects would likely fix clusters of these at once.

Optional and container handling

• Several issues are about None mixed into containers or unions (Dict | None, int | List[int], int | None) then used as if always concrete and indexable.
• A clearer pattern for “sometimes missing / sometimes multiple” values (and how they’re checked before use) will make this class of bug easier to avoid.
