There should be a yellow warning icon that says X number of calendars not being handled xyz number of events upcoming
It should also respect on sets or offsets or whatever it is that could push part of the UI below the bottom nav to make sure that you always see all the calendars.
Just moved to a new phone and ran into the issue where I thought the calendars weren't syncing went through all the steps in that UI and it turned out that the one I needed to make sure it was handled was under the nav.
And as soon as I tapped on the check box the upcoming number went away so even though the UI helped me to figure out if he could have been better.
