After conversations in the Geocomputation with R issue tracker, and thanks to your input @vlarmet, I'm keen to give the package a try. However, I have no idea how to get started, beginning with just an OSM dataset, e.g. downloaded and imported into R with osmextract.
Here's a minimal reproducible example:
