Visits are counted with GoatCounter, which sets no cookies and does not store IP addresses; the totals are public on the stats page. There are no adverts and no other trackers. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, scripts from jsDelivr and cdnjs, map tiles from Esri and some live data straight from its providers (the Iowa Environmental Mesonet and the National Weather Service, for example). Like the hosts that serve the site and its figures, those services see a visitor's IP address when the browser fetches from them.
