- When using auto-uploads for pictures (or videos), subfolders are always included in the selected directory.
This is a problems as my Android mobile stores local pictures in /DCIM/, /DCIM/Camera/, /DCIM/ScreenRecorder, /DCIM/Snapchat etc.
I would love to be abe to upload the pictures from /DCIM/ and then select subfolders individually.
- I have been having problems where this (I think this is the reason) uploads duplicates on my nextcloud server.
Describe the solution you'd like
A clear and concise description of what you want to happen.
- An option in auto-upload settings "Do not upload content from subfolders"
Describe alternatives you've considered
A clear and concise description of any alternative solutions or features you've considered.
- Another alternative option would be to skip any subfolders to be created in the remote folder when "use subfolders: year/month" option is selected.

-
My auto-upload setting are:
- Always select same remove folders (i.e
my pictures for all pictures and my videos for all videos)
- select "use subfolders: year/month"
- select "Skip uploading" on the "What to do if the file already exists?"
-
The result I see in my nextcloud is: /my pictures/2026/7/, /my pictures/2026/7/Camera, /my pictures/2026/7/Screenshots, /my pictures/2026/7/Snapchat
- In this example, I would prefer all of those to go to the remote folder:
/my pictures/2026/7/ and make use of the feature: "Skip uploading" on the "What to do i fthe file already exists?".
-
Nextcloud Android app version 34.1.0
-
Nextcloud Server is version 34.0.1 (on my way to upgrade to 34.0.2)
-
Mobile on Android 16 security patch 2026-06-01
-
These subfolders in the remote directory have been bothering me for a year or two, so nothing new.
Again thank you all and have a nice day!
