Shortcuts for assignment steps

As a laptop user, having to finger over to the assignment section and click the check boxes can be a bit more effort than i would like.

You think you can add something where I can do a shortcut like 'Ctrl+#', such as 'Ctrl+2,' and it will check off assignment step 2 for me?
Would want the ability for it to toggle back to unchecked if I repeated it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked through several lessons and found that the Assignment structure varies quite a bit. Lessons use different nesting depths and may include numbered items with checkboxes, bullet items with checkboxes, and bullet items without checkboxes.

The consistent pattern appears to be that the top-level Assignment steps are numbered and have checkboxes, so the first implementation will use:

• Alt+1 through Alt+9 to check or uncheck the corresponding top-level checkbox.
• Alt+0 to check and focus the first currently unchecked checkbox in the Assignment section, following the visible order from top to bottom.

I am using Alt rather than Ctrl because Chrome reserves Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 for tab navigation and Ctrl+0 for resetting page zoom.

For example:

    2. [checkbox]

Repeated presses of Alt+0 would behave like this:

Alt+0 -> checks 1
Alt+0 -> checks 1.1
Alt+0 -> checks 1.1.1
Alt+0 -> checks 1.1.2
Alt+0 -> checks 1.2
Alt+0 -> checks 1.2's first nested bullet
Alt+0 -> checks 1.2's second nested bullet
Alt+0 -> checks 2

The bullet without a checkbox would be skipped. Alt+0 would always find the first currently unchecked checkbox, so it would not automatically uncheck items or maintain a separate position in the list.

Once a checkbox is focused, the existing Tab, Shift+Tab, and Space controls can be used to move through the Assignment section and manually check or uncheck items.

I will test this approach against several Assignment layouts and adjust the implementation if the page structure requires it.
