• C emission needs 14+ GB on a 16 GB Mac because JSC sizes its heap from physical RAM

• A polymorphic-returned Bool fed to Bool.or / Bool.xor: the C lane reads the box as the Bool

• The IO loop's select walks every waiter per pass: n arrivals cost O(n^2)

• ns:name keys collapse back to ns.name in --verdict, bypassing #1216

• Importing a package needs the name of the file that declares each thing you use

• SPIN_FAR inlines a spin by its line count alone: one spin made FAR runs nbody 1.18x faster on the CPU and raytrace 1.23x faster on Metal

• --verdict certifies a different law than LAWS.bend states when the law uses a helper above its declaration and the helper shares a Base constructor's name: parse_reso's far reads tlds ∪ ctrs, parse_fresh only tlds

• --check-only re-checks the whole import closure for every file (repro, see #1209)

• A goal or error that mentions a self-referential @unsafe placeholder never prints: the checker unfolds it forever

  bendlang/bend#1231 · Filter by author Tor-Saxberg opened on Oct 1, 2026

• --verdict: safe.ts's group_of picks a group by a def's first later-filled name, not by membership — a dead forward reference to a law crashes -o/--verdict, emits a non-member selector, or (with a name_tt collision) PASSes a book computing a different value

• A generic def over a Data record boxes it on the device heap: a Bool.pick of two records took Metal's compile from 8 s to over 11 minutes

• --verdict: two mutually recursive type-level defs that pass a kept parameter are rejected as "calls that descend"

• --verdict: the kernel runs out of fuel on conversion_shared_cells_once.bend, which bend2 checks by sharing (2.0.34)

• --verdict overflows the stack on a ~ parameter of some datatypes: model_at's cycle check misses cycles through ∀-typed fields

  bug
bendlang/bend#1181 · Filter by author Vacrin opened on Sep 29, 2026

• --verdict: a binder inside one parameter's type can mark a later, live parameter as specialized ("a kind that depends on a run-time value")
