Independent customer-experience work is most useful when staff do not recognise the person carrying it out.</p><p>If a team member can identify an auditor before or during a visit, there is an obvious risk that the normal customer journey is replaced by someone’s very best front-facing customer service.</p><p><strong>The anonymity is deliberate. <div class="step"><div class="step-no">02</div><div class="step-title">Record what happened</div><p>Keep contemporaneous notes and relevant evidence rather than reconstructing the interaction later from memory.</p></div>

<article class="case"><div class="case-tag">Hospitality · service refusal</div><div><h3>Payment was accepted before the restriction appeared.</h3><p>A family group entered a quiet venue. Part of the group ordered and paid through the venue app before service was then challenged on a booking or policy issue. The assessment focused on acknowledgement, when restrictions were communicated, consistency, respectful treatment, recovery, check-backs and departure.</p></div><div class="case-outcome"><strong>Outcome</strong><p>Management investigation, customer-facing training, meaningful goodwill and restored confidence in the brand.</p></div></article>
<article class="case"><div class="case-tag">Parking · automated evidence</div><div><h3>The camera had timestamps. It did not have the customer journey.</h3><p>A genuine prospective customer used online search, calls, directions and a short site visit. ANPR later reduced the event to a simple continuous parking record. The useful question was not whether the timestamps existed, but what those timestamps actually proved when placed in context.</p></div><div class="case-outcome"><strong>What mattered</strong><p>Journey evidence, chronology and the difference between an automated record and the complete circumstances surrounding it.</p></div></article>
<article class="case"><div class="case-tag">Leisure · parking resolution</div><div><h3>Escalation worked when it reached the organisation that owned the relationship.</h3><p>Genuine customers received parking charges connected with a venue visit. Venue management reviewed the circumstances and cancelled the charges directly, avoiding an unnecessary argument through an automated process.</p></div><div class="case-outcome"><strong>Lesson</strong><p>The fastest route to a fair resolution is sometimes the business that actually wants to keep the customer.</p></div></article>
