One-Click Save with Customizable Default Settings #591

Description

Overview

Introduce a One-Click Save option in the OneNote Web Clipper extension that allows users to save web content with a single click, using predefined default settings. This streamlines the current multi-step process and improves usability.

Currently, to clip a page, the user must:

  1. Click the OneNote Web Clipper extension icon.
  2. Choose the content type (Full Page, Region, Article, Bookmark).
  3. Select a destination notebook/section.
  4. Click "Save".

Moreover, there's no option to save the defaults, requiring repeated manual input even when the same configuration is used regularly.

Proposed Enhancements

Default Settings Panel
Allow users to configure their preferred:

  • Clip format (e.g., Article, Bookmark, Full Page)
  • Target notebook and section
  • Optional tags or comments

One-Click Save Button
An optional feature that users can enable in the extension settings. When enabled, clicking the Web Clipper icon will immediately save the current page using the predefined default settings - without requiring further input. After saving, a confirmation popup will appear, allowing users to adjust the content type or change the target notebook/section.
