Nagram Brand Assets Policy

Source code and branding are separate

The source code in this repository remains available under the GNU General Public License version 3, as stated in LICENSE. This policy does not restrict the right to fork, modify, or redistribute GPL-covered source code.

The Nagram name, the Nagram logos, and the Nagram-specific application icons identified below are brand assets. They are not granted for use as the branding of modified, forked, or third-party distributions. The copyright owner of all Nagram-specific application icon artwork identified below is MaitungTM. Copyright © MaitungTM. All rights reserved.

The Nagram name and the Nagram logos are used as marks identifying the official Nagram project and its releases. The Nagram name and project identity are owned and controlled by @NextAlone. No trademark license is granted. Copyright in the Nagram application icon artwork remains with MaitungTM. Nothing in the GPL grants permission to suggest that a modified or third-party build is an official Nagram release or is endorsed by the Nagram project.

Rules for modified and third-party distributions

Unless prior written permission has been obtained from the applicable rights holder, a modified, forked, or third-party distribution must:

  1. remove or replace the Nagram name, logos, and application icons used as product branding;
  2. use a clearly distinct application name and icon;
  3. remove Nagram brand assets from launcher icon selectors, manifests, release packages, app-store listings, screenshots, repository avatars, and other promotional material; and
  4. not imply affiliation with, endorsement by, or official status from the Nagram project.

Accurate and non-confusing textual statements such as "based on Nagram" are permitted. Copyright notices, source history, and other notices required by the GPL must remain intact.

Identified Nagram brand assets

This policy applies to the Nagram-specific artwork represented by the following repository paths and path families:

  • TMessagesProj/src/main/ic_launcher_nagram*-playstore.png
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/drawable*/nagram*.*
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/drawable*/ic_nagram*.xml
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/drawable*/ic_launcher_nagram*.xml
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/mipmap-anydpi-v26/ic_launcher_nagram*.xml
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/mipmap-*/ic_launcher_nagram*.png
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/mipmap-*/icon_background_{nagram,colorful,darkgreen,google,neon}.png
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/mipmap-*/icon_foreground_{nagram,colorful,darkgreen,google,neon}.png
  • TMessagesProj/src/main/res/values/ic_launcher_nagram*_background.xml

The identified application icon families include Default Nagram, Google, Colorful, Dark Green, Neon, Niello, Block Round, Round Blue, and Blue. The policy continues to apply if any of this artwork is copied, renamed, moved, recolored, adapted, or incorporated into another icon or resource file.

The list identifies files used to implement Nagram branding; it does not claim ownership of third-party trademarks or third-party artwork that may be present in the repository. Generic upstream assets located in the same resource directories are not included unless they incorporate Nagram artwork. Those materials remain subject to their respective rights and licenses.

Official releases

Verbatim redistribution of an official, unmodified Nagram release must not be presented as the distributor's own product and remains subject to all applicable licenses and laws.
